    Hey y'all!

I've got my first job on a boat, but I've got to get my STCW before we go on charter this summer. Looking to do it asap to prove that I'm serious and be able to get another job if the boat gets sold or something.

Anyways, I'll be paying it myself and I'm looking to do it as cheap as possible. I read about the course in India (their website was a joke btw), but I'm not sure wether it's valid in med/caribbean or not.

I am looking for a basic safety/STCW-95-course (preferably in europe) at a reasonable price.

The cheapest I've seen is 795€ and a 5 day course in Antibes, could've been elsewhere. Not sure.

    Suggestions?

Any other Tickets to bother with as of now? Power boat for example. Or even a yachtmaster?

    Thanks in advance

    Piru1,

If you live in Genova, then I think Antibes would be the cheapest when you factor in accommodation, food and travel costs (assuming you can commute the 150 kilometers each day).

If you you are close to Southern England, this might be your next best option (at 1000 Euros including accommodation and food).

    Alright..

The one you linked, Rodsteel, seems promising at first glance. I work in Genoa, but I origin from Sweden. Anything within Europe is near. Ryanair has cheap flights.

I will look into it further after the holidays.

    Thanks

Do it Sweden then - google AMPM, they do the courses up there. Mind you wouldn't want to be doing sea survival up there right now.

    Same question, different country.

My husband and I are currently looking for a place to get our STCW 95 in the States. I've been searching the web for quite some time, but just keep running in circles. Any suggestions? We are in the south east - Georgia, specifically. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Quality Maritime in St. Petersburg FL or Maritime Professional Training in Ft. Lauderdale. QMT is usually cheaper.
