Marines I was a sub sailor for 8 years. "Bubble Heads" were welcome in mar bars. (Marine Corp enlisted mens clubs). The reason we were welcome wasn't just professional courtesy to another American military person in a specialized branch of the service, it was also because sub sailors were smart enough not to f u * k with Marines. Some criminals need more punishment for their stupidity than their crimes.

Hardly the same. Yes, the guy did try to rip off a best buy and stabbed a marine, the rest is fiction.
Hi, I got sent the photo in an e mail from a guy I know, after reading this I did a Google of the Marines name and did come across a newspaper article with a different suspects name. The guy I got it off had forwarded an e mail he got from someone else. I wonder if the "newspaper" it was in was the National Enquirer or similar.
Per Snoopes http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/stabbedmarine.asp, true story, but embellished for amusement. He got clotheslined and taken down by the Marines, but the injuries and 'tripping' were added. Personally, I wouldn't go up against a bunch of Marines unless I had an overwhelming desire for pain. I'd guess that the sheriff and the Marines downplayed the suspect's pain as much as the article enhanced it.
