I understand that. I took slides in those days and now have thousands stored away that will take me into my geezer years to scan and catalog. I know I have some of the boat somewhere along with others of Cindy Mozel trips throught the "Hole in the Wall" and Tremble Island with a barge in tow. This thread has inspired me to find them since it looks like I'm not alone in enjoying that part of boating.

Thanks again for sharing the story.

    Hi Marmot,
Please do scan your collection. That would be quite interesting.
I haven't worked on any towboats but I like them (and their histories) just the same.

Sure will, at the moment (when I can) I have been working on the manned submersible era which was also Vancouver oriented. The few posts here regarding the Cindy Mozel and Tim's Miki have stirred some fond old memories though. I found some of the day we discovered the wreck of the steam tug Aliford off Captain Island. But that is another story ...

I will make sure you get copies of whatever I find as they are a part of the BC Coast history now and it would be nice to share them.

She will always be the Lloyd B to me...

Wow..I was telling a friend about my 'going to sea' in Canada at the tender age of 12 in 1979 and they dug up this thread on the site. I spent 3 weeks or so (much of it on the wharf in Steveston) on the Lloyd B Gore when its was owned and Captained by Tim Joys. -- it was some years later that the drug hauling started...I'm pretty sure those were only prawns we sold off the dock ;-)

Great boat and high adventure for a kid my age to learn such work-- oiling the drive shaft every 30 minutes while underway, splicing rope and cable, scraping and painting everything all the time and of course TRULY learning to swear!

Thanks for the pic... I can't seem to find those I took so many years ago!

Bumping because my office over looks Coal. Up the street from Urban Fair, so often buy lunch and eat in the park on a nice day--to browse the yachts and Women joggers! :D

I'll dig, did run over to Canada Place to get pictures of Octopus when she was in town 05/6 time frame.

I do have two o.k shots of Spirit Of Vancouver Island going into Active Pass and near the Tsaw Terminal:

I've wondered the same. I met with him and his son two summers ago in Vancouver, during my tour of shipyards in the PacNW. Let's hope all is well and he returns soon!
