My boat only has a black water tank with all sinks and showers discharging overboard. I understand discharging gray water directly overboard is not allowed in Europe. Can anyone provide the rules while cruising in the Med. Does it vary depending on country and marina. Thanks
There is actually some pretty good info that was posted on YF but did not come up until I Googled it. Seems it is a "gray area". Anyone in Europe with first hand knowledge would be appreciated.
Hi, Your needs to comply with Marpol Annex IV will depend upon your vessels size. You will find that in most busy marinas after dark there is an over powering stench of turds as a synchronised black tank pumping takes place, St Tropez is a good example of this closely followed by Monaco. Personally I do not see you having a problem unless someone complains, from my own experiences even when this happens the greasing of the complainants palms usually stops any escalation
Inforcement seems to be restricted to Turkey which is random. I guess that's another reason to fly a foreign flag and keep a low profile.
Ha Ha, Sure don't want to try that in the San Diego Bay. Fine are 3000.00 - 5000.00 per Citation. VERY Strict on that.
