Was anybody working on her at the time? Welder maybe? Hope all are OK. That really hurts. Looked like she was near completion.
No injuries sustained thankfully. A 34m Yacht. Fire started approx 11pm. Friday evening. Investigation by relevant bodies underway...there is unfounded media supposition concerning a lightening stike, however the cause is as yet unknown. I'm sure we would all prefer to wait for the official findings. She was around a week away from hand over. The fire threatened the adjacent factory and moulds stored alongside on the hard. There were also several other Sunseeker craft moored in close proximity. Thanks to the Fire services and a stirling effort from the local RNLI and Sunseeker staff, who attended shortly after the alarm was raised and who managed to move the other vessels and moulds out of harms way, no damage was sustained to other craft or property.
Sunseeker Yard hit by lightning It would appear from the news that the Sunseeker yard in Poole has been hit by lightning with a nearly complete 34 meter going up in flames. Never head of boats in a factories yard catching fire in this kind of way! Luckily no one hurt or reported hurt.
There is no official confirmation that the Yacht was struck by lighting .. at all because of the damage left by the fire .. as fire officers have yet still to confirm the cause of the fire .. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...illionaire-owner-ate-restaurant-quayside.html. The 112ft long Sunseeker boat was ripped apart by flames that leapt 60ft into the air, lighting up the night sky above Poole Quay in Dorset. Crowds gathered around the inferno that gutted the yacht's three decks and left just the hull a smouldering wreck. The luxurious craft was all but complete having been built for a Mexican tycoon who had just arrived in Britain to take delivery of it. It is understood the 40-year-old businessman was on the dockside at Poole to witness the blaze.
