As i did not find any topic on satellite internet on board, i would like to take the time to raise a topic.

for the Caribbean only i found a system, Sea Tel who offers the following set up:
SeaTel USAT30: 76cm reflector, 8 watt BUC-NJRC, LNB, iDirect X5 series modem for a price of $35,835.00. It does not reach to Venezuela but gets close, beside this, it will not reach the Galapagos Islands as well.

per month 329 for unlimited fair use. so thats not to bad with a download of 1024.

Does someone here know other solutions that have a broader range? world wide would be great, or at least for the Carib and the med.

    tnx

I'm guessing you're looking at a small antenna for a moderate size boat from your post. In which case have a look at the KVH units - as I recall they have the smallest VSAT antenna on the market - couldn't comment on prices though.

    Hi,

You might want to refine your search terms.

Here is a list of previous threads with Internet in the title.

    Hi,

Dunno why you get that error msg, here is how I found the list originally.

Go to the search page, type the single word internet in the lefthand side where it says Search by Keyword, change the drop down menu to search titles only and click search now button at bottom of page.

You should get a list the same as what I first linked to plus any new ones with Internet in the title - this thread was top of the list when I checked yesterday.

How many users? If just family, KVH V3 could work. 1024 down, 128 up. $995.00 a month useage with a $16995.00 list. More users? KVH V7, Seatel you mentioned or Intellian V60. Seatel and Intellian use Idirect modem, KVH has spread spectrum. That should get you started
