    Got My live-A-board

After several Months of looking, dreaming, reading every
Wish internet article I could find on live-a-boards, I signed a contract today on a 54' Hatteras MY.
Its subjected to a Survey. My wife and I are in love with this boat. The present owner has had it for 10 years and spent over twice my purchase price on upgrades and Maint. New Galley, new pilot house and Electronics, new stabilizers, both engines and transmissions rebuilt 350 hours ago, new paint and new interior.
The only neg I can find is I know it will be hard of fuel with the twin 8V92's.
But, on the other hand, don't plan to cruise around the world. Will probably put 100 hours a year on it. I though a long time about buying a 25 year old boat when I could buy a Jefferson or similar boat 7 years old for the same price.
    Wish me luck

Yes, Gas is around $5.95 and Diesel has been running around $5.39 to $5.75.
It depend where you go. On larger Islands, its cheaper, small Islands, higher.
I'm looking for a way on the net to get an updated fuel price.
I guess thats one advantage of a LR 3,000 mile Trawler. Fuel up in the States and run all winter.

in the meds you have several websites that gather fuel prices and centralize them. do you guys have that in the Caribbean as well?

And to cheer you up next time you fuel up, we pay here in Holland for diesel about 9 dollar for a Gallon. Gas a little over 10 dollar per Gallon :)

    Gallons

Don't forget that the US gallon is (I think) about 20% smaller than the Imperial gallon.

Abel. Are the prices you mention, at boat pumps, or car pumps?

...about 1.55 Euros per liter at the harbour over here so 5.60 Euro per gallon ehich equals toughly 8.30 USD. But what surprised my most is when I updated my currency converter on my smartphone it started showing gold and silver on the cuttency list, maybe people start noticing that this is the only honest money that bears its value in itself and is not just backed by promises and unrealistic optimism?

    1 US Gal = 3.786 Lt, 1 Imperial Gallon = 4.454 to infinity Litres

I can't find these sorts of fuel efficiency numbers from owners, who seem to consistently say they only get about 1mpg at 8 knots. Perhaps the 2 or 3 mpg numbers are at 5 or 6 knots?

It depends on hull speed and such......a pair of 8v71's would burn 8 gph (both) at 1000 rpms. About 5 gph both at 800rpms. I ran a 58' YF with smaller injectors (90lph instead of the 110lph) and possibly the extended hull length of the extra 5' gave it a better displacement speed. But whatever speeds those rpm's translate to, then do the math.

    Hey All,
My wife and I live aboard a 43' Viking Double Cabin. Well built, JT 6-71N's, reliable, relatively stingy, 18 kts when you need it, plenty of room...
Perhaps you might want to take a look at a Viking 48' DC. A few on Yachtworld.
    Just my two cents...
