Awfull! That looks like hell opened!
Let´s just hope the wave will run out of power under way! There`s plenty of coastline around that bit of water...

27 aftershocks above Richter 5 scale, 13 aftershocks above Richter 6 since the 8.9 earthquake. Source: CNBC

Proves the value of sat-com in a tragedy like this.

    Hi,

I just caught a bit on the news about it coming ashore in California.

I hope all YF members are unscathed after this one in their backyard.

Im down in Los Angeles (Marina Del Rey) Slept on the boat last night and noticed nothing this morning. Forecast was to get 2.8' waves from the tsunami. Down here in marina del rey you didn't really notice anything other then all the people on the beach.

Saw video clips from santa Cruz and the currents pulled a few boats out but again nothing too serious from what i saw on the news.

They're just announcing that radiation is leaking outside the nuclear plant, and they are evacuating a 2 mile radius.

Dateline just had a special on this. I can't imagine even as I watch it. On top of the Earthquake and Tsunami they now have (2) nuclear reactors heading for meltdown. Horrifying. I hope all people of every faith stop and say a pray to their gods for these victims. It would be beautiful if every army around the world took a break for just one minute to pray for those who've died and those who didn't.

The after math in particular the nuclear reactor potential to meltdown is scary. I'm wondering what effects that could have on the Pacific Ocean and Western North America!

I haven't had a chance to check the news since this AM, but I'd have to guess that depends on whether 1 or 5 melt down. I wonder what the effect will be on the nulclear energy industry. It went strong, then there was 3 mile island. It started getting strong again, and then Chernobel. Now this. Our utility lied so bad that even our police refused to participate in evacuation drills. (Shoreham Plant- activated to 5% before closing)

Well, maybe not. Prior to his return, there was apparently radio traffic about the conditions and the Harbor Master had turned several boats away. They also made announcements over the PA. The Harbor Master is in the building across the gap the Nordy was attempting to pass through. The slip area is to the right of the video and is where he was headed. As boats passed through the narrow area and maneuvered, they create a wake that can be the straw on the camels back. This was the second time in recent memory the marina has dealt with a powerful Tsunami.

Also, past the Nordy's dock, there is a bridge that Audrey's Dream would not fit under. If they lost power or the props were fouled with debris, it could have been bad.

I was kind of surprised to see him turn broadside to the current instead of powering his stern into it.

For those of you not familiar with Dana Point harbor, let me add a little information. To the left of the screen and across the harbor is the fuel dock. To the right of that and seen floating past where Audrey's Dream makes her initial turn is the bait receiver. If you look closely, you will also see a paddle boarder position himself right behind Audrey's Dream as the Captain starts to back down, forcing him to push forward.
