I have clients with a new to them 65' trawler. They're not full timers yet but want to hit the hot spots of New England this summer with particular emphasis on where's best for July 4th. Is Liberty Park still tops? Not to miss marinas and harbors?

    Thanks for the help.

Block Island is always one giant party for 4th of July. Newport is a bit stuffy, and stuffed. The Cape is better on land for the 4th, haven't ever done Nantucket or the Vineyard for the holiday. Bar Harbor/Southwest Harbor/Northeast Harbor are fairly quiet and relaxing. Montauk is packed, as is the rest of Long island's east end. Mystic and Stonington largely empty out except for small boats.

BI, RI would be my pick for the hot spot destination.

Thanks for the replies. I have received private emails with other suggestions. This doesn't particularly seem to be a topic of interest for YFers. Let me know if anyone out there wants more accumulated suggestions.

    Thanks again Seafarer & Crowley.

Not sure this qualifies, but my favorite spot is about a mile off Florida's coast, cruising at 2000 feet above sea level. Fireworks as far as the eye can see...

Vineyard Haven was great last year. You could see fireworks all up and down the cape.

Liberty Park is not in New England. NY fireworks are great, but if they are really in New England the place to be is Boston - anchored in the Charles River. Boston Pops, Air Force Flyover, fabulous fireworks. Heaven.
