I've had some inquiries for YF gifts and I need some feedback on items you'd be interested in. Here's the short list...

    • Decals
    • T-Shirts
    • Caps
    • Visors
    • Mouse Pads
    • Keychain Flash Drives (size and shape of a key)

Pending price, I will try to cover the costs, but some of these things are expensive in numbers, so my cost is your cost on those items, plus postage. If there's enough interest, I'll add this to my 2011 To-Do list. But first, let's find out which items you want...

Voting is open to everyone, including lurkers.

Do people still use mouse pads or wear visors? Do you really want to get into retail sales on a small scale for little or no profit and have to deal with sales tax, etc.?

I wear a cap every day, sometimes even been known to take it off in bed.

They have never, ever been white. Never.

Have you ever been in an engineroom in a white cap? I give it 30 seconds !!!

Please take this as a subtle hint. ;)

They come in very handy when you use wireless optical mice on a glass desktop.

I voted for t shirts. It would be the best way to promote the site on the docks. I might even run into a few of the forum members that way. :)

This is more of a give-away, but are very "visible" when used.

PM me if you want me to find some price quotes in Southern China.

(no offence to members who still believe in good old American quality of course...;) )

I could dig a cap, but only with my choice of Miami Deco colors. Got a closet full of white and navy caps already.

I wear 'gimme' caps pretty regularly out on the road (keeps sun out of the face when shooting).

I use thumbdrives almost daily for sharing files, but have gotten to the point where 4GB is a minimum while anything over 8GB becomes a digital hoarding temptation (partly because there are faster ways to transfer than USB 2.0, partly because "oh I'll just back it up here and delete it later"). When we did thumbdrives as holiday giveaways a couple years ago, we used PNY - http://www.pnyusbs.com/ - but I think their general minimum is 1,000 units. We got blanks and spent a bit extra per piece to do a limited run through a local screen printer.

And I've worn my YF polo enough that the collar stripe has faded significantly... A tee in a color other than white would be a regular bit of 'gimme' gear as well.

Representing this site at cost plus shipping still works out as a 'gimme' in my book, for all concerned.

    Kelly,

If you are thinking of getting rid of any, give me a call. Some of my old White Sox ones are starting to growl at me.

Just think, Elton John raised over a million cleaning out his closet, it may have been overflowing for some time though.

FISHTIGUA - I never throw away a cap either. In my case black outnumbers the other colors. So many colors, but the cap makers use so few . . .

My wife refers to Yachtforums as yachtporn most likely because of the hours I spend drooling over the various images on the site. I would wear a Tshirt that said I GET MY PORN AT YACHTFORUMS.COM :D

i guess the best gifts'n'items would be t-shirts an caps, as you can wear them anytime, i would even suggest you to create key fob (from google translate, hope its right) in form of yachts or with yachtforums pierced out of metal or plastic :)
but to get the young crowd, i mean mousepads...naaa...since i've a laser mouse i haven't ever used a mousepad again :)

I agree with T's & caps. It's great advertising on the dock. Can't tell you how many conversations my Coinjock T's have started. Key fobs are more of a give-away item at boat shows, something to draw people to a booth. The others won't promote you much, and if you're selling at cost....

I am in the same boat ...................... so to speak.

shirts or hats would be my vote.
but if we are talking free, well, beggers can't be choosers....
