This year, I'm getting YF off the small screen and putting it on a big white canvas to go cruise South Florida's main street and promote our waypoint. I'm not going to be "in" these shows, per say. I'm just cruising around in the daylight hours leading up to showtime and hopefully capturing the interest of others who have come to see big boats on parade. Here's my cruising agenda...

The Stuart Show - Sat, Dec 4th
The Palm Beach Show - Sat, Dec 4th.
The Ft. Lauderdale Show - Sat, Dec. 11th.
The Pompano Show - Sun, Dec. 12th.
The Boca Raton Show - Sat, Dec. 18th.

Today, I designed the letters and they are being cut tomorrow. But first, I've got to get a coat of wax on the hull so the vinyl will remove without leaving outlines in the gelcoat. Unfortunately, it's been raining most of the day and more is coming tomorrow. Below are some examples. I've already approved the cut, but it won't happen until tomorrow. Wanted to run this by everyone. Feel free to slam me for being promotional...

Photo #1 - blank white canvas
    Photo #2 - title in Trajan / sub-title Aerial
Photo #3 - title in Bold with deep drop shadow
Photo #4 - float line reference

Post #2 - the approved, final draft

Here's the final draft, ready to ruin a razor at nearly 13 feet long. Went with a black outline instead of a drop shadow for 'YachtForums' because gold will washout against a white hull. The subtitle in red has a black outline as well...

Hmmm... I hadn't thought about putting the tag line above the rub rail. I've got a pencil line drawn along the float line to make sure the decals don't drop below that level. The only problem with putting the tag line on top might be the boat's cover, which drops just below the rub rail. The boat will be stored in a high traffic area (with the cover on), so only YachtForums will be seen. Still, this is a good idea Lars. Let me study this a bit...

Well, perhaps this is possible then?

Go figure. I've been thinking about these decals for a few months. Leave it to Lars to come up with a better arrangement in 5 minutes! Fortunately, the sub-title vinyl is being cut separately from the YF logo, so we can place it anywhere. Let me pour a glass of Port and study this...

YACHTFORUMS.com is the grabber. It's the headline. From there your eye will normallly go down as it's been trained. It's why the headline is always on top with the story below. Add to that the possible loss under the cover and I think you had it on your first try.:)
Oh, and Yes it is shameless self-promotion. I look forward to the new blood and new thoughts it brings in.

I agree, I like this one. In the water or with a cover, you're not losing any of your text in either situation.

It took longer than anticipated to apply the decals due to a break that runs along the full, about 8' below the rubrail, but YF's Xmas Mascot lives! The letters were originally 14 feet in length, but I chickened-out and shrunk 'em to 12 feet. Best not to be too bold when being blatantly promotional. I'm provisioning this morning and heading out for the day. If you see this boat... wave! :)

Here's the complete convoy. My 10 year old Expedition with 130,000 miles and a 33' Powerplay with 130 hours. I've got my priorities right... ;)

    Carl,

I'm going to sound like a bit of a saddo here but.......Erm. Nice trailer!!

Most trailers I come across have wonky wheel bearings and the U-bolts on the winch are all rusty.

The last RIB I sold, the trailer was worth more than the boat and engine combined. I think a new brokerage is calling. :)

Wish I were there to see it.

Really...... as I can only imagine you took that picks in shorts, t-shirt and flippy flops! Ughhh! I gotta get out of here!

Agree with all, nice boat, nice trailer, real nice graphics. One question (almost unrelated) though. The boat looks a bit far back on the trailer. Is the transom properly supported? My attorney had a Mako w/ 2 Hondas that sat a bit too far back and it resulted in a lot of splitting and rebuilding of the transom. Wouldn't want those graphics laid up in a yard.

I kind of thought the same thing, but looking closely at post one, first / second images, show the support rails extending all the way back to the transom (in which hopefully) to provide required support.

Hey Fish, you guys over there really don't like cold and storms. Guess you don't get enough to get used to it. We just had our first cold front (of several to come). Still riding weather.

    Weather?

Cold here in WI. 6 degrees. It's a good day to be in the shop sanding on a boat.
