at the risk of getting shot:

I don't like the lines, way too straight/low for my liking. A traditionally raised pilothouse, like many original fantail yachts have, would have broken those lines nicely.

Also, a mast (or two?) are required to balance a bowsprit, designwise!

I understand she was designed with height restrictions by the owner - still she does not look right to me.

    Hi Lobo,

I thought the same when I first saw the renderings of Sycara, but the design protocol had serious height restrictions, therefore a flushdeck was chosen. I have to disagree with you on the mast-to-sprit ratio (is there such a thing?). I think Sycara's mast brings good balance to the sprit, unless the sprit isn't excited. Study the first few shots in YF's review, here...

BTW, the height limitations were so limiting, the mast as well as the funnel had to be collapsible. While a RPH design might have brought more balance to the overall look, Sycara works well for her intended use.

Just my opinion, but I reserve the right to be wrong.

That's what really counts in the end: having met the owner's project goals.

YF reviews are always a joy to read, and this one surely is no exception. Thank you!

Here is an interesting perspective of Cakewalk. This is a 91' Palmer Johnson northbound in the ICW and at least from my perspective at the Pelican bar it looked as though the PJ's hardtop was just below the sheer line of the bow of Cakewalk! Unbelievable!

Good shot. It really puts things in perspective. Bet the PJ owner thought he had a big boat when she launched. I always caution owners that their boats will shrink drastically when they go to Ft. Lauderdale. :D

I know this is not on the FLIBS scale but speaking of perspective...
I used to make a point of taking the guys I worked with to Annapolis for a visit.
My boat looked pretty big at the marina and I wanted the guys to get the right perspective. One stop at the Yacht Basin would do the trick.

That boat looks like it's running very heavy.
