Looking at purchasing 37' 1967 steel roamer. Looks to be in very good condition other than some updating and some minor paneling on back deck.. Mahogany is in great condition may need strip and redone... nothen to big... Have owned wood boats and fiberglass, never steel.. not sure what to look for or how to maintain.. have read several articles on steel boats... without getting to crazy like to know where best spot to look for maybe lowest point places that hold water / rust... boat out of water batteries on i imagine to keep dry.. thinking maybe i wish it was a aluminum 37... never thought of a roamer but commanders... definatly like this roamer just new to this hull... so any info or advice i would appreciate, maybe hold out for aluminum or fiberglass commander....

Both Commanders and Roamers have great hulls. If you keep up on the maintenance they will last you forever. I know of a nice Commander and a nice Roamer in Traverse City/Elk Rapids, Michigan. They are both listed in the Yachts for sale section of Yacht Forums.

congratulations and welcome, I love the 37. It is a classic. Start surfing through all the threads in the roamer club. There is alot of information here. Once you have a specific question then ask it. It is easier to answer. Don't be afraid to start your own thread. We all like to look at Roamers. Dave

Oneiros how long have you had your roamer. Our boating season is coming to an end soon and it will be time to pull her out of the water. Over the winter I plain to give her a total over haul inside and out, strip the bottom and sides with a new paint job. The back deck has some bad wood, some body installed cheep carpet on the deck at one time, I will put new decking down. The main cabin needs all new everything, The stove and sink are good. But I'm looking forward to the project. I'll take photos as I go a long Gravy
