I had my gen going and she stopped after about 5hrs of running I checked by putting quickstart in the carb it stays running ,I checked voltage at the fuelpump and its there when you try to start,bowl is empty ,shouldnt it pump out fast from line when pump activated ? What could be my problem what goes on these gens would water seperator be problem or would just have water in fuel not no flow? Thankyou
I see a water seperator but no filterfor fuel another thing I was thinking was I just got the boat and it has a quarter tank of gas or lower is it possible that it grabs the fuel from a higher level in the tank
The fuel water seperator is also a filter. Change that. Also, generators always pull fuel from a higher level in the fuel tank and are the first to shut off when the fuel level is low. It is entirely possible that the fuel level is too low in the tanks.

I have the same genny on my Carver. As stated, swap out the fuel filter/water separator and put fuel in the tank. After, you can remove the fuel line going into the carb while turning it over to see if fuel comes out the line (keep a jar or something for it to go into). If you spin the genny over for longer than 45-60 seconds, shut off the raw water intake until it finally fires up. If you don't, it can allow water to get sucked back into the engine and do damage.
I've never heard of water being sucked back in. BUT, shutting off the raw water intake and cranking the generator for more then a few seconds will fry the impellor for sure
Actually, it won't as long as there is currently water in the impeller housing. I wouldn't make this up. This is from page 24 of the Kohler operator's manual: "Do not crank the engine continuously for more than 7 seconds at a time. Allow a 5-second period between starting attempts if the engine does not start. If the engine fails to start after three attempts, contact an authorized Kohler dealer/distributor for repair. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in burn-out of the starter motor from overheating. If the engine fails to start after the first attempt, close the seacock before a second start-up attempt. This action will help prevent seawater from entering the engine cylinders through the exhaust valve. Once the engine starts, the seacock must be re-opened to allow passage of cooling water."
