Hello from the mid-century mark. I have peered over the edge and it's steep! On the first day of the last half of my life, I awoke in a biosphere that resembles utopia; filled with trees, lakes, waterfalls and year round 70 degree weather with room service, yet I'm located in Orlando, its summer and 95 degrees today.

    Where am I?

As part of my B-day present from my GF, I was indulging in altitude, wagging my tail with my feet.

    What was I doing?

I am going to have to pick helo.

It just dawned on me, and it makes sense. Although, I hope he was not posting that as he was flying:)

Can't wait. I've flown in a few. Great experience.

    Thanks for the help Ron.

    A quote from 'Airplane'

"Flying is just like riding a bicycle

......only it's more difficult to fit the baseball cards in the spokes."

Hope you had fun and and managed not to hit the ejectorseat button. :)

Here's where I am... the 'Gaylord Palms' in Orlando. Before the jokes begin about the name, this was my GF's idea. I'm too homophobic to book a room at a hotel named Gaylord, but you've gotta see this place to believe it! It is a completely self-contained biosphere with lakes, plants, trees, wildlife, restaurants in the jungle and of course - what else for a YF nut - a yacht!

Like the airhead I am before coffee, I had me feet firmly planted in the air. Unfortunately, the T-cyclic stick had been cut in half so I couldn't show the pilot how a real rotorhead flies... inverted! My accomplice is behind me, completely freaked because she's seen me fly r/c helis and thinks I'm about to do the same with this R-44.

Carl those pics of the Biome are amazing! and I bet it is far more amazing in person because pics hardly justify the story. On the issue with the R44, why do you think the controls were cut in half? The pilot actually wants to work the next day! ;)

Thank you ALL for the 50th Birthday wishes. YF is home for me, but I didn't know I had such a big family.

Part of Dawn's 3-part plan for my B-Day was to take me somewhere cold because I wanted to escape the heat. This is why I usually go to the Carolinas for a week each summer. As I get older, South Florida summers are becoming less tolerable. She couldn't afford to fly me to the mountains, so she took me to the biosphere of Gaylord Palms in Orlando, where I spent 3 days... outdoors... in air conditioning!

Present #2 was a heli-flight because she knows I miss flying, but I don't have the time to pursue it anymore. For example, I have one r/c helicopter that has sat inside a box waiting to be built for over a year. It's only 20-30 hours to assemble, but I can't find the time.

Present #3 was to connect me with something I'm passionate about. She knows I love old woodies and have often talked about buying one, getting a cottage on a lake, sitting at the end of the dock and smiling in content as the sun set, so she took me to the Maritime Museum. Below are a few pics taken with my iPhone...

It was a good 50th B-Day. I found out where my friends are. Right here. :)
