    Hello Trophe,

    Welcome to YachtForums.

Like you, I last saw "Commodore" in Maryland at Bay Bridge Marina. It was easily 10 years ago.

Just yesterday, I was surfing around Jim Moores "trumpyyachts dot com" photos page, and saw 2 photos reported to be "Commodore". She appeared to be just a bare hull, obviously under reconstruction. Location and date of the photos is unknown. Perhaps someone here has newer info.

I spotted this beauty tucked away in a covered shed in Fort Lauderdale. SIRIUS was built in 1964.

    The "Caleana"

I honestly joined this forum, simply for this thread. My family and I lived aboard the former "Caleana" when I was a child growing up in the nineties. The story my dad told me about the Annapolis/Trumpy buyout is exactly what is echoed in this thread. We bought the Caleana in 1994 (I was 11) as a live aboard/restoration.

The story I know about her is that she was originally destined to be a 43' sportfish, and was nothing more than a keel when John Trump purchased the yard. She was finished up as a fifty footer. She has twin navy surplus 6-71 Diesels, and after looking at photos of the Vixen II on the second page of this thread, there is zero doubt in my mind that she was a Chris Nelson design.

I don't remember much of any of the numbers on her, aside from the inscription "17 tons" on one of the beams when the engine deckplates were lifted. I do remember a large steel "gusset" from the aft chain locker that ran from the keel up to the gunwale with some ornate welding on it.

The previous owner we bought her from had a top installed in 1972. I also remember the salon having these way cool roll down windows, with copper rain gutters!

My stepfather enclosed the bridge (which had an "Annapolis Cruisers" gauge panel), put these otherwise gigantic windows in the front of the salon, and fixed the roll-down windows, and didn't exactly help the aesthetics of the boat at all, but hey, I was a dumb kid more interested in making model cars and playing video games!

The ship was last documented out of Corpus Christi, Texas in the fifties or sixties, and was also rumored to have been used as a research vessel of some kind-which would make sense, because this thing had sleeping berths in it EVERYWHERE! The head up front had a small berth in it, my room had a bunk bed on the port side, and a third bunk on the starboard. In the galley, the table folded down to make a bed, and there was also a "cabin boy's" bunk in the master bedroom.

That's all I can really remember about her, other than the previous owner had this insane thing for Robin's Egg Blue, and Pink. Everywhere!

When we lived on her, she was at Stanford's Marina in Colonial Beach, from what I know now, she is in Mattox Creek, nearby. I google earthed Mattox Creek the other day, and there was a boat in the range of fifty feet with that tall-tale mile long foc'sle, albiet missing most of her super structure. I will dig up photos of her if I can find any!

This is what I saw from google earth. You can see those large windows on the front of the superstructure I was writing about. Draw your own conclusions, but if you guys know of a Annapolis 43' that was launched a 50' Trumpy, this was the boat.

I haven't seen her since 2000, I heard she sank in her slip, but was raised again. I almost don't want to know of her condition...

Hello KFD, Welcome to YachtForums. I did a little research this morning, and did not immediately locate and info about your family's old boat. Any kind of photo would be helpful.

Perhaps this photo will look familiar. This is the name plate aboard "Vixen II"

The antique boat museum of Clayton NY shows a listing for the John Trumpy & Sons Motor Yacht Sinbad, object i.d. 2003.005, year 1969 among their collections list.

Here is "Lieselotte" ex "Claudette" on her way to Piney Narrows Yacht Haven @ Kent Narrows, Md. from Atlantic Yacht Basin in Great Bridge, Va. She has just received new Cummins 405 HP electronic diesels, a new Genset, new tanks, new wiring, among other mechanical updates and cosmetics. In this photo she was running 20.5 knots (on my chase boat GPS) @ 1950 RPM's. She's pretty quick for a 1970 vintage wooden classic. "Lieselotte" is a star!

She is FOR SALE. Contact me by PM here on YachtForums.

Looking for our old 1937 63'

Would appreciate any help in finding out what happened to my late Father-in -laws 1937 63' Trumpy he had many years ago. Prior to 1981 he owned a boat yard in Jacksonville, Fl. The Trumpy was called "Geisha". He ended up donating the vessel and the familiy lost touch with it after my Father-in-laws death. Any help would be appreciated

    Trumpy Throttle / Transmission controls

Does anyone have any ideas about finding the old style throttle / transmission controls for my 1939 Washingtonian?

Big Ditch, thanks for the information, I will check it out. We are in North Carolina at Moores Marine where we have been doing a major refit of Washingtonian and expect to get her wet some time near the end of August.

I assume you are talking about the Smithsonian? If so, there is nothing. If not, then which department. I was at the Smit....yesterday and was assisted in a search that returned nothing.

Vintage Shots of Mathis-Trumpy's The Captiva

My grandfather crewed on The Captiva for the Payne Whitney family after its launch. I haven't seen any pics of it on the internet at all so I thought I'd post some here. This is a test...

My best guess is this is Jock Whitney.

Great pics! The third one that is colorized, looks to me like a different yacht. I sure love old historic photos of Classic Yachts!
