    The last week I removed one cross member support joist for the aft deck. This joist, (as are all the others), was bolted to the aluminum frame which is part of the aft deck support. When I removed the beam and bolt there was a small tab of white rubber like material between the wood and the aluminum frame. My guess is that this is a vibration isolator.My question is what should I use in its place? Here are a couple of pictures of the project and the rubber like tab.
    Whoops file too large. I need to reduce it but out of time now.

    I would use some neoprene rubber, you could probably glue it down with a little 5200 just to keep it in place

    I used butyl rubber. As long as you maintain the thickness, it should fit together.

    Additionally, one might consider some supports to the sides under the hard-top supports (on a 37 foot model). Not only is this a likely location for rot, I think the floor on mine sagged in this area, further promoting water pooling and rot of the wood.

    Good Luck

    Nautolex installed, SS trim strips?

    Well the Nautolex install went very well. The stantions for the flybridge ladder are back from being re-chromed. Everything is coming together very well. EXCEPT...I would like to replace the stainless steel trim strips that cover the seams and are used along the edges of all hatches. Does anyone have a resource or even know what to call them. I have been searching Jamestown's site and getting nowhere. Thanks. Pics to follow after the weekend.

    Hi;
    I am working on refurbishing and updating a 1966 @ 37foot Aluminum Roamer. I've been at it since October of 2007 and have completed the deck work aft rebuild and steering station and upper cabin work.
    My rear deck had mushrooms growing on the timbers. I didn't find any rubber pads when I demo-ed the rear deck. But i did incorporate soundproofing ( a total of 2-inches thick when i rebuilt the deck). I'm wondering after all my add on-s if she will float? If you have an interest you can check out my pictures on my face-book site: http://www.facebook.com/people/John-Stewart/100000348304338 ask for access.
    I figure that I have another 2 years in before Caledonia is done.

  10. Glad to see theres someone else who has the balls to NIX what the judges think!! I like the abscence of the toe rail, plus the new opening hatches on the roof. Its good to see you are versed in working with stainless too!

    Hi you are doing an unusual project, but I think it will be and a very nice boat when everything is ready myself, I think these boats are so fine lines so I would not venture to alter them.
    I'm interested in and buy your old steering wheel if it is for sale my steering wheel is not the outer stainless steel ring. Since I have a question about your muffler Are they mounted right on the photos Chris Craft logo is of course up and down should it be so?
    with best regards from Sweden
