Now that we are all acquainted - itz time to show off your Roamer.
Here's our first volunteer (right John?) - the "Patricia J" -- a 1969 Riviera 38 (AL), underway all flags flying. Nice radar drome & Sea TV antennae John - he's owned her for nearly 30 years! :p

Beautiful boat & great photos. Thanks for being the first volunteer!

What's top speed of the Patricia J?

    Go Fast - Open Wallet.

    She's got the original 427s (I believe).
Now CC advertised 36 mph top speed with 427s back in 1967 (37 footers) - but received a bit of grief for exaggerating.
WIth 454s, my 37' Riviera (AL) tops out at least at 30 - maybe 33.
Have since stopped "racing" - but know of one 38' Riviera powered by 370hp Yanmars with incredible props that tops out near 40.
    Whew!

    Orestes/ Roamer 32' 1959 #11

Well, I brought her home to RI from Ohio yer olde "Golden Rule" 32' #11 - 1959 steel. Passed the hull test, engines green and running and I strart srtipping the interior. Saggy orange carpets. plad curtains, electronics (that I do not recognize), heavy teak, heavy vinyl seats...... Where to I stop? Any affectionado out there for old junk or should I chuck them all? Green toileet bowl!!!!
    Orestes
PS If I want to change the color of the hull to black or blue or barn red, what say you? :) I do not plan to strip, just light sanding and a heavy roller.

I wonder what my "cruise" RPM is. Engines are 427s too; 300 hp, but in a 48' Aluminum. Not sure the accuracy of my gauges, but I top out at about 3300 RPM, showing about 20 kts. Wieght (fuel & water levels, passengers, etc) has a big impact. I get nervous running that fast for too long ... not to mention much lighter in the wallet!!

    Serious Cruiser

20kts is pretty impressive for a 48' Roamer driven by 427s.
Good to know, but I'd save that turn of speed for serious situations - plus with gas headed for $5/gal at the dock this summer, the wallet issue might become more of a "pressing" concern, eh?
    Cheers!
    Eric
    PS - Does your Roamer have a name/hull #?

    31' or 32'?

Sounds like an interesting restoration project - travel back in time, even as you build up your modern day roamer. Dont throw away any teak! Too valuable.
Now, what I'm confused about is the length - they only made a 32' from 1962-64.
    http://www.geocities.com/alloyed2sea/Riviera_Express_32.html
    IN 1959, they made a 31':

Which one does she look like to you?
We would, of course, love to see any digital photos you might have.
Also, what kinda motors does she have?
    Finally, can you find a hull# for her: For a r a '59 Riv 31' she be ROX-31-111
    For a '62 Riv 32' she be RXB-32-111 - look familiar?
IN any case, keep up the great work and let us know how the restoration is going.
    Cheers!
    Eric

Believe me, Eric, I save those speeds for "serious situations."

I tried to post my info on the old site ... thought I did it right, but it never "stuck."

If I can figure it out, I'll post a photograph.

    Both Roamers really looking great.
It always (but shouldn't) amaze me how well those lines are holding up - 30+ years later.
    Great work fellas! ;)
