This is truly amazing! It's 7 minutes long. Watch the entire clip. The last (3rd) illusion is incredible!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=hwVy_2eOfsE#t=78
Hi Arnie, Beats me. I'm starting to think this stuff is real! Between Chis Angel, David Blaine and digital technology, it's all beginning to blend into belief.
I'm pretty sure the first couple were done with magnets - I bet his ring is magnetic and the coins might be made in a way to stick together so that two coins can become one. But the third one... No idea how he could hide a hole or a soft spot in the table.
i saw a show on tv in which they disclose magician's secrets ... the only parallel that comes to mind is where the table top (an acrylic/hard plastic of some sort) is NOT a single sheet ... thus 2 sheets slide in opposite directions opening a hole for his arm ... note that he covers the hole with his other palm ... & that the camera moves down to table level to prevent you from seeing the dual sheets which would obviously be evident at the time ... my 0.02¢ worth ...
Ah the Masked Magician. He does another where he throws a deck of cards at a glass window depositing one card on the other side of the glass. It's very interesting to see the secret, but the mystery is definitely more fun. This fellow puts on a good show right down to his facial expressions. Even transcends language. Very entertaining.
China has a grand tradition of magic but I think I've worked out the 2nd trick. Where the 3 coins are laid out, it is possible to hide a di-polar magnetic pair of discs in a foil coating. Thus when he thumps the table from below, the 2 discs conjoin by magnetic attraction and a palmed coin falls into the bowl. Oh blast! I see April the 1st was yesterday. Haven't the foggiest how he did it.
tricks It is obviously that he already has the coin in his hand underneath the glass panel....for the first 2 tricks... The third trick,..... why holding your hand in front of the arm and why sliding that hand/arm over the glass first? Turning the glass panel in position...I suppose very well done.... that is for sure
Yes, that's probably how he did it. Or, the acrylic/hard plastic had a slit where he could put his hand through. And as you mentioned, he covers the hole with his other palm. And, prior to this, he taps the table -around- the area where he later on puts his hand through, -not- on the spot itself.
I think you'll find that the key to the illusion is in the black cloth that he continually cleans the table with. It would most likely contain filler to obliterate the seam in the panel after he opens and closes it. So much less mystifying and romantic when you analyze it though.
