I have the Seatel 1898S and DirectTV in the FL panhandle with locals. The problem is that I only get channels 44 and 53 local, but not the other 7 programmed for my local viewing area. When I tune to locals I am not receiving, I get the 721 error. I called Direct TV and they resent my authorizations but still no service for 7 of the 9 locals. I plugged the receiver (standard definition D-11) into the home dish (3 LNB) and the locals then appear normally so I don't think it is a receiver or account authorization problem. There is something in the Seatel 1898 that is not allowing 7 of the 9 locals to appear. When I go to the setup mode of the receiver and do an auto setup, the receiver thinks the Seatel is a conscan dish, which it probably is. The bad thing is that only allows reception on one satellite. When I tell it is a dual LNB, I can receive 101 and 119 satellites simultaneously. The Seatel picks up both satellites with 98 - 100% signal on both without switching satellites. Can someone tell me why I am not getting 7 of the 9 locals but receiving the national channels and 2 of the locals fine? There are two outputs on the Seatel but the manual says using only one is OK for one receiver. Do I need to get a multiswitch and connect both outputs of the Seatel and only use one of the four outputs on the multiswitch? Unfortunately Seatel does not have a direct customer support line that I have found. They refer me to local service providers and the one I called did not know what the problem was. The other wants me to bring in my entire system for them to troubleshoot. Has anyone experienced this problem and found a "simple" solution?
    Thanks,
    Norm

    Alan,
Thanks for the ideas. Let me update you on my problem as I have had some limited success. First, you are correct that I was not actually receiving the second satellite. For an unknown reason, my D-11 standard definition receiver shows strong signals on satellites 101 and 119 when the Seatel was tracking the 101 satellite only. I mistakenly thought I was lucky enough to receive both satellites without moving the antenna. Another confusing factor was the error shown when I selected a local channel was #721 channel not purchased or something like that, but not "searching for satellite" which would have been a better clue. My national channels are on the 101 and my locals are on the 119, and in the FL panhandle these satellites are several degrees off. After I figured this out, I could receive the 101 at about 47 degrees elevation and the 119 at about 38 degrees elevation. I don't know the azimuth since the dome was covered. You are also correct that you have to change satellites to switch channels from national to locals, but now my problem is that I am not receiving the satellite ID number (NID). I have to manually keep hitting "NEXT" until the Seatel finds the other satellite. If I could receive the correct NID (FFFE for 101 and 1004 for 119), the Seatel should move right over with the single push of the "NEXT" button. I called Seatel Inc and the technician gave me new frequencies to try in the V/R and H/L, but I have not yet had success getting the lock and the NID correct. I will keep playing with this and let you know if I figure out the clue. If you have any other ideas, they are very appreciated!

I am having similar issues in San Diego. Did you ever get your problem resolved? What were the V/R and H/L frequencies you were given for the 101 and 119 sat?

Something that was a bug for a past customer. You get the local channels that are available to your billing zip code.
You kids may have a bigger bug that that but nobody has mentioned it.
