Single salt water cooling pump feeding two AC's

    On my 40' Cabo I have one salt water cooling pump feeding condensing water to two Dometic air conditioning units. One unit cools the main salon and the other cools the two staterooms.

    The salt water pump discharge line feeds into a Reverso 'Y' valve that then splits off and feeds both AC units. I'm sure the unit works fine and likely does not restrict the flow to both units, however trying to see if there are any other recommendations for a Y valve that can fit this need.

    You could make the equivalent out of either Schedule 80 PVC or bronze fittings. Or there might be a Forespar/Marelon fitting out there somewhere.

    I recently replaced a 1:4 bronze/?copper? manifold with one I made up from bronze fittings... and I added a separate valve and injection port to more easily service one of the 4 outlet lines (which is significantly longer than the other 3).

    If bronze, Groco or Hydrasearch (Buck Algonquin) for the hose-to-thread fittings.

    I'm guessing those 3 screws hold on an inspection / cleaning cover? That's cool.
    And you want to replace something that is not broke?

    If needed, I use 3/4" nylon Ts, 3/4" grey nipples, 3/4" nylon 90s and nylon (or marelon) 3/4" pipe to 5/8" hose adapters to build new manifolds.
    All synthetic, no issues. Just like what you have already.

    Those 3 screws hold the unit to the bulkhead for mounting purposes only. The unit does not open for cleaning. We have had some blistering temperatures this summer and my AC's are working well. We have also had a lot of jelly fish this year which completely plugged my strainer in about 2 weeks and likely some of the jelly fish parts have traveled down stream of the strainer.

    I'm going to flush the system and remove my star manifold to clean out of place.

    Bronze is fine for a manifold but some fittings are hard to find in quality bronze like male male nipples. I use nylon or schedule 80.

    when I got my boat years ago, some clown had used brass nipples in the manifold and to attach the unsupported strainer to a 90 degree fitting on the strainer…. Both caught in time…

    in this case, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it. The only thing I like do is add shut off valves on each hoses so you can isolate one unit for servicing

    WHY? Just clean it in place like everyone else does. Don't break what already isn't broken.

    Groco has some male-male nipples, with wrench flats in the middle.

    In our case, decent bronze street elbows might have been useful... but they wanted an arm and a leg for the few I could find.

    I cleaned everything and flushed the coils on both AC's with barnacle buster. Everything back in service and working well!
