Manny questions develop then. Most questions have NOT been answered yet.

Faith in something gets thin but I have to work with what is offered.
Bless us both from any direction.

    Luv ya Bro.
    Stay well and safe..

Ah, the Air and Sea Show in Fort Lauderdale?
I had mixed feelings about it when I lived there and right between the beach and the airport: Noisy..

No, that was a shot from my trip to Miramar last September.

I don't think I'd ever get bored with that noise though. LOL

In my younger days I would agree with you: In 1980 I lived next to Merrill Field in Anchorage, Alaska and loved to hear the bush planes take off with a roar when the propeller tips went through the speed of sound @ 06:00.
Not any more, I love a quiet backyard and a good book with a glass of bubbly, no such thing within 15 miles of the Fort Lauderdale Air and Sea Show.
(I know, it is the sound of freedom)

Big Beaver is back in Norway..
(We had a thread on this boat a few years ago, a big Delta flying through swim/bathing area at full speed, the Captain or owner thought it was too shallow to go slow.):D
Or some such thing, same owner?

This is Hull 824...which we assume will be called Pi but it is not to be confused with the 77M predecessor.

Aha, this is the new Pi, a 100 meter 2025 build, as opposes to the 2019 smaller 77m sister?
My sources, a European newspaper had them confused, impressive boats regardless.
    Thx for the correction.

ICW South of Fort Lauderdale yesterday, we are on a cruise ship ready to try mass tourism, Cattle Class Cruising for 5 days/4 nights.
First impression was: Too many people, all milling around looking for food and drinks. (Like us)
Impressive ship, clean, good food, good service mostly.
The verdict so far, on the 2nd day of the journey, we are not doing this again..

Trying to upload a few pics, no cigar.

Leaving Key West now, will be cruising to Little Stirrup Cay, about 307 NM doing 8 knots.
Still no pics, perhaps because of slow internet..?

Caught in the act: Members of different termite species mate.
Termite Love Child Going to Sea?
Loose Cannon recently published a story quoting scientist Thomas Chouvenc, who believes boats are exporting Florida termites to who knows where. Now, he’s learned that it’s actually worse. He’s discovered a hybrid termite and expects this new super species will also be stowing away.

“Having the two of the most destructive termite species in the world hybridizing here in Florida is a real concern and it is unknown if in the long term it will be a major economic problem that would be compounded to the one already caused by both species,” Chouvenc said.

In his just-published essay in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society, Chouvenc wrote that invasive Formosan subterranean termites and Asian subterranean termites have gone from coexistence to cross-breeding. Chovenc is associate professor of urban entomology at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, a branch of the University of Florida.

The university’s news release on Chovenc’s study concluded:

With the presence of established hybrid colonies now confirmed, scientists warn that the consequences could extend far beyond Florida. Fort Lauderdale, dubbed the “yacht capital of the world,” is a known hotspot for the introduction and spread of invasive termites via recreational boats. Chouvenc’s previous research has shown that private vessels are a major pathway for spreading these species internationally.

“This may be a Florida story now, but it likely won’t stay just in Florida. Give it time,” he warned.

I just got an urgent memo from the Florida Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, Florida Yacht Brokers' Association, and Show Management asking if I can delete the crappy post about the termite covid. And besides, I'm not sure those mating termites know which end is up. BTW, should you need an exterminator, Truly Nolen was one of our sailing buddies.

Well published notes on termits & boats on the web. Post #227 was copied from one of these sites.
We have managed a few boats requiring tent & gas to manage these boat eaters so it's not a new topic.
I thought interesting reading after your post #225.
    Admin can delete if needed.

Guess I had the same couple onboard, had to tent my boat, they were feasting on the interior and laughing at the various Home Depot “bombs” and sprays I tried before going nuclear..

Now an official member of the Friends of the Morning Beer Society. Docked in the Bahamas, love the fake teak deck, it stays clean and shows very little wear and tear.
