Generator problem on the 43’ westerbeke 15kw 2005…flipped gen breaker on at DC panel, hit preheat and start like normal and the 8 amp fuse immediately popped on the generator itself, replaced fuse and now when flipping the dc gen breaker on it immediately trips breaker off or pops the fuse. Any ideas what the problem could be? Skip has had to replace a couple of the relays inside the gen panel in the past but this problem sounded different.

I had a wire shorted to the block on one of those Westerbekes on a Cabo once. The one for the preheat circuit. Call a dealer service guy out, or you could parts change forever.

Well, It is a 16 year old Worsterbroke. You may have another relay issue. Replace them all and re-test.
One day the world will be free of Worsterbroke / Mitsubishi reef material. Until then, keep spending the bux and keep patching them. Marine Tex sticks well to blocks of corrosion.

Can you tell I luv that brand??

Update: was a dead short ground at the temp sensor. Temp sensor replaced runs fine. P&D marine orange beach, impressed it got done so quick.
