    Hi,
We have a 2007 43 fly Azimut and we took it out the other day and after running it at 30 mph, the starboard engine would not throttle down. We had to manually go down and turn it off. We have replaced the throttle and have had the mather board checked. It isn't any of these.

Any advice on what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

Why, don't you have shutdown buttons at each helm?
Regardless, I'm afraid CR is correct: that's not something you can hope to troubleshoot over the internet.

    Call a tech.

Without telling us what engines you have AND what engine controls you have, there is nowhere for any of us to even start to guess. At 43' and 2007 you could have cable controls and a broken cable.

I'm almost sure that they only used Cummins 5.9 engines on that model, hence obviously with electronic levers.
I also half remember that they used the ZF Mathers Microcommander, but I'm not positive about that.
In any case, even assuming that this is what the OP has in his boat, I'd never dare suggesting anything for a fault like that.
Aside from not relying anymore on whoever already tried replacing the throttle or doing anything else on the "mather board", whatever that means... o_O

Thanks for your replies...we did call and engine tech and he was unable to solve the problem. Will be trying to find someone else who deals exclusively with Azimuts. We are on the west coast...any suggestions?

Is the engine model a secrete?

Not throttling back can make for an exiting scenario. :D

Azimut is not who you need. They install engines and hope they work. Call a local shop that handles whatever brand engine is in there.

engine and engine control issues are usually best addressed by engine specialists for that brand. Boats are not like cars. Builders use different brand of engines and engine controls so while a specialist in a specific brand of boats can address issues usually a caterpillar, Man or cummins specialist is what you need

you haven’t even said what kind of engines and engine controls you have !!

you said the “mather board” has been replaced. Is that a typo for motherboard or for Mathers board. Mathers is a brand of engine controls now owned by ZF

Got it fixed!!! There is an emergency switch under the lower helm...the starboard engine switch was in the wrong position.
Discovered this totally by accident. Nothing at all about this in the manual anywhere!!! Geez, so easy but what a nightmare...3 mechanics and lots of $ later. Azimut needs to be better in including all information about the schematics and diagrams in their manuals.

Both that, and also their aftersales service.
Regardless of the manual, it was something that they could and should have been able to suggest you over the phone.

Good that you eventually discovered that, anyway.
If your experience will be anything like mine, I was pretty confident to know my previous boat inside out by the time I sold her, after 17 years of ownership. I'm now on my 4th year on the current one, scratching the surface... :D
