Looks like "NORD" will be floated out very soon for the last time ahead of delivery one would assume.

What made me think she was already delivered? Here I am wondering why she didn't pop up at St. Barths:)

LOL! Floating dock is opened now so re-launching is perhaps imminent.

If I recall correctly Azzam had a lengthy delivery process and took a long time and numerous dry dock visits. Granted she had a rather complex propulsion, but I can't imagine Nord being less complex with all its insane amenities.

"NORD" relaunched early this morning from the floating dry dock. Here is the video of the relaunch process. Such a stunner.

Was "aircraft carrier bow" in the design brief?

I do love the look though...the colors may not be to everyone's taste, but I think they bring the design to a whole new level. It's great to see people trying something different like that.

Well, from the early build stages we saw the bow was shaped like that so it was definitely an early design consideration.

These retractable helo hangars actually work pretty well. They are completely climate controlled, storm safe and can be adopted to different types of helicopters. They come from the commercial shiping world and were first used on polar research vessels and ice breakers. The Luerssen yacht Lightning is also equipped with one of those retractable hangars.

A hangar for a normal size helicopter (H-145 or bigger) will occupy 2 decks ( in height) like on Octopus. On the upper aft helo deck of a large yacht, a fully integrated hangar is pretty hard to design without destroying the complete yacht design (see yacht Ulysses). And a hangar on the fore deck with helo lift takes too much valuable space from mandatory technical areas (service deck). And below deck hangars with lift have a very high risk of damaging the helo during operation and they can be dangerous for the crew (remember the fatal accident on the Amels yacht, where the chief fell into the hole and died).

IMHO, if a helo hangar is really wanted or needed on a yacht, it is either the solution above or a design like on Octopus. The best way in my opinion is a touch and go helipad on the fore deck of the yacht and the location of the hangar on the shadow. On a shadow, form follows function, the design is optional.

Sorry to correct you again, Project Lightning, named Scheherazade, doesn't have that kind of heli hangar, Crescent does.
Talking about Scheherazade, it's not clear, but I think she has a heli hangar below the foredeck.

Sorry I mixed that up, You are correct, it is Scheherazade. Luerssen is just building to many boats to keep track :).

That opening is pretty small for a helicopter, this landing pad was build for. As I have no knowledge about this yacht, I can only guess, that this opening is hosting a larger tender or SOLAS rescue boat. If this lift will hold a helicopter, it could only hold a H125 Écureuil (all three blades fold rearwards), an H120 or a R-66 with removed blades. A H-135 or 145 would not fit. I know, because I have and fly a H-145 myself. And I do not think, owners of such yacht would fly single engine helicopters over sea.
