We were docked at Big Game Club in Bimini,
The boat below was leaving from Resort World, Fisher Village, Or from behind a house.
Hard to say, other than leaving the channel. @ 7:24am on 2/10/2021

They was violating a no wake zone and drove about 25 feet off our Port side. The wake caused our Tender smashed into our boat and caused consider amount of damage on both vessels.

Our Captain tried to hail them on the radio. No response. It’s not you run of the mill center console, as you can see from the photo

    Any info would be helpful

    Thank you

There is a WhatsApp group for large yacht captains in The Bahamas. I've shared on there to ask if anyone knows it

Thanks Ken, The irony is I only took the photo because it’s a cool boat with a beautiful sunrise. Then BAM! Hell broke lose. They knew what they did, as they quickly slowed down. Of course, they should of turned around.

Sorry for your damage and good luck in your search.

However, have to ask this, why was your tender not secured in such a way as to prevent this? For it to bang against your main boat, did it come loose or was it not tied in such a way as to keep it away? Was it in the water or on your stern platform?

It’s a 33 Sportport. In the water. Several Fenders (ProStock Fender. 24 x 66) , and secure (2 spring lines, 2 breasts lines)

I’m not boat expert, but how do you protect a boat with a 36 inch wake from less than 25 feet). It lifted the Tender at least 3 feet couple feet in the air. High enough to hit the railing on the swim deck.

Just saying, that boat isn’t exactly small, it was completely violating a NO WAKE zone, and was way to close to our boat. Look at the photo, you can see it was moving

So, not to be rude. How could this be our fault?

Well, I've docked there and similar places many times and I always assume there will be someone like the guy who waked you. In Bimini, I can't guess ever having an extended trip and it not happening at least once. So, while saying without question it was the other boater's primary fault, I'd also say you need to anticipate such and protect against it. You protect by tying the boat far enough from the other boat that regardless of wake, they cannot touch. You still have a boat tossed and turned by you don't have damage between two boats. I assume someone will always violate a no wake zone. It sounds like perhaps the tender was tied to the main boat. I would simply never be brave enough to do that.

Did you turn the photo over and report locally? The fine there is $500, but of course, in this case, there is the issue of damage too. I suspect the boat was quickly back to Miami.

On the photo, yes. We’ve contacted the Marine Masters. And will contact customs, and the police. I understand the fine, their responsibility.

As for this thread. I was just reaching out to see if we could possibly find the person.

Emotionally, at the moment I feel like a teenage kid who got side-swiped by a car running a red light. Then the driver flees the scene. Still Upset at the situation, I have my father lecture me on the merits of looking both ways.

Good size fenders and 4 lines, I don’t know what more you can do to prevent damage. How the heck do you tie a tender alongside but far enough?? In a no wake zone you have reasonable expectations not to be waked that bad

have you gone to RW and shown the picture to staff?

Don’t know this boat but it is a Pardo Yacht. Was in a slip next to one on Lake Michigan last summer

Thanks Guys. Lucky, the Police do know who it is, but they won’t tell us. Not that I really care to know. Just wish they would have done the right thing...

I expect them to be diligent too, although might not be until next time they arrive. They like arrests but also like revenues. Strong incentive for them to ticket the boat.

In a no wake zone you should be able to have a tender tied alongside with no fenders. The only person at fault is the boat throwing the wake. Sounds like the OP certainly did his part to keep his boats safe. Have your attorney send a letter to the authorities for info on the boat saying he'll need it to file a claim.

As a side note it looks like there was a major repair done to the bow of that boat.

    We saw that. Good eyes

One thing I love about boating is it’s never a DULl moment. At the same token, the think I hate about boating is it’s never a DULL moment.

To close the Saga out (hopefully). We were heading out to do some fishing at 5:30pm, and low and behold there’s the boat. We hailed them, and they stopped. We asked them to dock at the Big Game Club

The owner and another guy (co-owner maybe) came over and we’re very apologetic. We exchange information, and they seemed like good guys and are looking to make things right.

it’s sort of a-shame, they didn’t do that this morning and avoid the whole police thing... We’d told them we’d drop that.. just do the right thing

Few strange things, no flags, no registration shown on the boat. But, maybe that’s because they got the boat a couple of months ago. Who knows...

They said the Captain was driving, but he didn’t show up. They didn’t know it happened, and I believe them as they were not up top when the incident happened

As for their ‘Captain’, I think I’d be looking for someone else. But, that’s only my opinion

cheers. And sorry for my little saga.

Like I said, never a DULL moment

Don't be sorry. This is how people learn to be smarter and run their boats more safely, if not to be good neighbors then to save themselves a lot of trouble, cost and embarrassment. Glad it worked out OK for you. Can only imagine your thoughts when you saw them again.:D

The bow has a hidden anchor door, not a repair. Fancy Italian feature.

Zoom out to 200x. That's no anchor door. Looks like a repair from below the waterline all the way up with faired edges and unpainted.

Yes it’s an anchor door. Google image search pardo anchor and you’ll see. Might also be some paint work up there also, Can’t tell by photo.

99% chance the miami dealer knows that boat. But curious if any remedy has to be done in Bahamas? I would think so.

This logic is about as sound as the 'ol: "well she was dressed in a skintight dress so she is partially to blame."

Glad the boat was found, and sounds like a case of a bad capt. and good owners. Unfortunately that happens sometimes.
