Ouch! That might have been enough to shut down a Mut thread. Glad we have this one for the zings.

Why, are you aware of any others worth considering?

So where is the politics you expected Ken? Sound's more like some kids trying to form a He man woman haters club, eh Spanky, or a H.S. cheerleader's clique. The fact is that none of us want to pollute YF with politics but some topics are inextricably tied to it. We have to take as great care to avoid it as some do to subtly insert it. Anything related to Covid 19 is definitely one such topic, but to ignore it is like ignoring the rain. It's still covers you. Hopefully the political tie to that will end within the next 30 days though. Till then hopefully the mods aren't too overworked. Now I'm sure some will not see this post which is fine with me, but I think they'll find what I did several year ago when I blocked a particularly obnoxious individual who is no longer here. The threads lost continuity and I ended up unignoring just to see this post cause the thread lost continuity without it, then that one cause the thread indicated he'd written something that I could learn something from. Eventually I just figured it was easier to learn what I could from the person and ignore the rest or do battle when called for. and yes the Irish in me prevents me from running from a donnybrook or allowing an attack to go unanswered. I also have very definite political views. Don't want to hear those views? Very easy. Don't bring it up. Don't try to be cute and subtly slip it in. Now there are some members here I don't like, but I've yet to find the one I couldn't learn from.

And +1 (x2) for looking up a word you don't know. I thought that was old-school, but now I hear newscasters asking for the definition of "mansplain." See, it doesn't take much to derail a thread with politics. :D And, btw, I have never read of anything smacking of mansplain on YF.

    Stay cool, my friends.

Understanding "Mansplain" is required of any man who wants a happy home. :D A day with nothing new learned is a wasted day.

Sound principle, but don't hold your breath.

Several posters here never miss an occasion to subtly (or also not so subtly) dismiss some builders, like Azimut, first and foremost.
In a few occasions, I tried to explain them that if Azimut is - and there is no doubt that it is, from an economic standpoint - the most successful boatbuilder of this planet, there must be also something that they are doing right.
Like building boats that appeal to normal boaters rather than professionals, to start with.

That's irrelevant to these folks though, and they think it's more appropriate to dismiss anything that anyone dare asking about an Azimut boat with sentences like "it's a mutt" or similar.
And mind, not only I did add the usual disclaimer about not having anything to do with them, but I also specified that I never owned one of their boats, and never will.
OTOH, the fact that their boats aren't my cup of tea doesn't make me blind: I can recognise and acknowledge someone's success (or lack of) when I see it, regardless of whether I agree with him/her.

But sadly, blindness and bias are very common - and are usually exacerbated when talking of politics...

What's the best boat, the one that costs to $3M and can cross oceans or the one that cost $30K and can handle the bays fine and that's all you intend to cruise on? What's the best car, the Vette that costs $60K+ and does 200mph (but the roads only allow 7o) or the Toyota that costs $20K , can only do 100mph and that you can fill with supplies from HD. Answer on both is the one that works for you. I don't like Azimuts, but I also have no intention of owning one. So it doesn't matter except for one's ego, and egos are expensive.
I will say that Azimut makes a lot more sense in your neck of the woods where getting it serviced is about the same as me going to New Jersey for service. Their service here is sorely lacking. So an Azimut is a completely different animal where you are than here even if the boats are the same. I prefer to buy things close enough that I can get my hands around the someone's neck. I've always been a fan of Sea Rays. They're not the best boat but you get what you pay for and you can get service and parts all over the east cost. Maybe a totally different story in Sardinia.

:):):)For my 10,000th post in a little over 12 years I want to wish all safe boating, good health and the love of a good mate.:cool::cool:

"A Fool's Errand" seems like such an appropriate place for this milestone. I hope I've helped a few along the way.

Related to which is "Brosplain". I have a buddy who will give me about 3 sentences to tell him something I'm developing or discovering and then starts explaining to me what I just told him.....funny as hell when you know it's coming as you can play in to it.....

Once had an acquaintance who worked for CBS News. Every story he told was done in 60 seconds. Yes, people are amusing.

Azimut has truly earned their reputation in the United States. They sell tons of boats here, yet stock virtually no parts, service takes weeks if not months to get fixed. Azimut could makes millions of $$$ in parts sales if they simply set up a 10-20,000 square foot warehouse and stocked and sold small parts for their yachts. Their warranty support on such a high dollar item is horrible in comparison to the warranty support on a $200 Weber bbq grill. And, it’s been this way for 3 decades and they don’t care.

nowadays With fast shipping they don’t have to stock a ton of parts they could ship from italy.

a few months ago I needed a part for the sliding doors on the 84 Lazzara i run. Two emails to the door manufacturer, Trend Marine in the UK, and the parts were on their way via DHL within 48 hours of my first email. Two days later I had them here and ready to install.

There's also the question of whether the parts are in Italy or then have to be ordered from a manufacturer in another country. Inventory costs money whether it's here or in Italy or with the supplier, but cheapest at the individual suppliers. If they don't keep it here where there are so many why would the keep it in Italy except for current builds. Note Pascal went to the door supplier not the boat builder. Not hard with a door maker, but a little different with things like hinges
