I noticed that some 'senior member' forumites have less posts than myself, and less subscription time.
So, I was wondering when/how someone is appointed as 'senior' (or not).

Not that I'm losing my sleep over it - just curious.
I already have enough senior moments also without the official qualification... :D

It is not necessarily based on length of time on the forum or how many posts they have. It mainly has to do with what they contribute as far as knowledge etc. as far as I know.

When the member cannot find their reading glasses while they are nestled on that members head ?

Lol. First time I see this asked ... does anybody really care ? This isn’t Instagram where likes and follows are so important to those influencers.

Speaking of which, I recently met a member here for the first time. When I told him who I was, his statement was "Ohhhh, I imagined you to be a 75 year old guy with all of the knowledge you have". I'm 43, but have been heavily involved in many different aspects of the industry. But, I got a good chuckle out of that one. I imagined he thought I was 75, with a Captains hat and a pipe sticking out of my mouth........LOLOLOL

It appears that Mapism attained senior status. Although I don't have a clue what brings on senior status (Lots of parts of Carl's job most of us are glad we don't have to mess with) my guess is that he was overlooked because he only made an average of 43 posts per year. Still though he's grown old here along with a lot of us. So welcome to being a senior Mapism.

    Well, thank you.
Now that by coincidence I got senior status after posting this thread, I'll let you know what that brings on.
Though I strongly suspect that nothing at all will be the answer...! :)

    'Care' is a big word.
As I said in the OP, it's just something I noticed and thought to ask out of curiosity, nothing else.
Don't look for myself on Instagram, anyway.
It's a place I never ever checked out, together with Facebook and many others.

Welcome to Seniorhood! I don't think you are AARP qualified, but knowledge is better than discounts. Thanks for all of your posts.

My pleasure, but thanks to you Judy.
Your valuable contributions are one of the things that brought me here back in the days, to start with.

As an aside, it's just a bit annoying that lately the forum became awfully slow to react to any command, but only while I'm logged in.
In contrast with that, it becomes fast again as soon as I logout (though that has restrictions, obviously - including not being able to post).
I tried different PCs and browsers, but that doesn't seem to make any difference...

    Is anyone else experiencing that?

No problem here. Maybe it's your internet provider. I recently dumped Optimum (Altice). Among other problems such as lousy customer service and it being next to impossible to reach a live person except in sales, they slowed to a crawl on weekends and holidays. They said the problem was on my end, but I think that was just so they could charge $90 for a service call or push me to upgrade. I switched to Hughesnet which is a little slower in general but consistent.

No issues here with speed, sounds like it's on your end.

I don't think it has anything to see with my provider, because as I said it only slows down when I'm logged in.
Maybe something specifically related to my user.
But surely not to being senior or not, 'cause it's been like that for some time now, and the recent "seniorhood" didn't make any difference.
Maybe any administrator who might be reading this could make a quick check about anything that might be wrong with my account?
From my part, there's nothing unusual as far as I can tell.....

Haven’t noticed any site performance issues, logged in or not. Try clearing your browser’s data, or try a different browser.

Working fine for me, pretty fast although I pretty much only use my phone for internet browsing.

I've been logged-in for about 10 years. Never used a phone for internet stuff, too dodgy.

Another member called Bamboo had problems like you described a while ago. I was going to suggest that you contact him, but he hasn't logged in since January 2020. Coincidentally, he, also, had issues with the forum admin around the time of his problems.
