I’ve got a fuel leak in the center tank or line/fitting. Can’t get access to much besides under the steps going down to the birth master bedroom.

Anyone had this issue? Going to try and cut an access panel tomorrow to see.

    on a 2000 56’

Fuel tank is bad. Center tank always is the first to go, between being really close to bilge water, any water/condensation in the saddles always ends up in the center tank from gravity and well......it is what it is. The good news, is that's the easiest one to change.......:D

    Sadly, Oceans liked alloy tanks.
More sadly, built similar to the same specs as Carvers tanks. They were just installed a little better.

How does the center tank get replaced?

Half dozed fresh circular blades, strong electric saw, young and strong backs and maybe a fork lift to start.

First you have to drain the fuel!!!!! The saddles gravity feed into the center, and I don't think (can't remember) if they have valves to shut them off. It might be easy enough to have a fiberglass tank glassed in for the center tank once the aluminum one is removed.

The Ocean I worked on did have shut off valves to the center tank. Could not tell you if they were factory, hope so.

Installing a new glass tank is a great idea, just more bux.
Now, the mains do draw from the center tank and it is vented.
Maybe, Maybe he just has a bad hose or fitting. That is still going to take some digging.

I remember an O 50, strung J&T 8V92s with side tanks and twin center tanks also. All of those tank fittings were in the ER.

    Looks like a fun project...

do you know if there is an access panel under the carpet? Getting access to even check anything looks to be almost impossible.

also it started leaking as the boat was spooled up running in for a tournament. Half a tank of fuel on the gauge. Does not leak while sitting or idling on same amount of fuel. Filled up saddle tanks and now leaking. I would think if it was the center feed tank it would leak all the time.

Here is why healthy men loose their hair early. Exploring and figuring out how things work on their boat.

There should be . To get to the shut off valves to the various fuel lines ..or if you needed to change out / service the fuel lines.

Aside from checking your return fuel line. Check/change your vent hose and make sure the vent is clear. If both hoses are origional, change them.

How are you making out? I also have a 2000 56 Ocean. I just found a slow leak in my small center tank that is between the ER and the master bed. I think it would make sense to see if the original tank is available, but the label on the tank is not easy to read. I can clearly see "Stoli System Design" and 36 Gals but can't make out the manufacturer. The Serial number is STO56. Did you get yours out yet?
    How? Anybody have suggestions?
    Thanks

Mine is coming from the forward tank. We found the shut off valve and shut it off. We have less fuel at the moment but going to do a few more fishing trips before pulling into the yard. We are going to do carpet at the same time so figured to wait to see what’s up. We hope it’s coming from the vent..but need to pull carpet up to gain access
