    A legendary blue water sailor Larry was an inspiration to many, including myself. Together with his wife Lynn he circled the globe in both directions and logged over 200,000 nm.

    It's "Pardey." I don't know if you can edit the thread title, or if a moderator has to do it, either way, he deserves to have it spelled correctly. [Done]

    He had been suffering from Parkinson's and dementia for many year, which is why there's no mention of him unless you go a long way back in their blog. Anyone who's interested in traditional wooden boat construction should read his book about building their second boat, Taleisin: "Details of Classic Boat Construction: The Hull - 25th Anniversary Edition"

    I've long been amazed that a couple like Larry and Lynn could live and cruise together for years on a tiny (25'?) sailboat with no power except oars. The lack of space, endless drifting and enforced togetherness would drive me bonkers in short order. I think it helped that both Larry and Lynn were quite petite folks -- I saw them at boat shows once or twice. But they accomplished incredible voyages in their engineless wooden boats.
