I've decided to replace my Rupp tournament riggers with new ones. I can't decide if I should just order them online and let the yard that is currently performing my restoration install them, or if I should purchase them through a dealer that offers installation. Having never done the installation myself, I don't know how much expertise it requires.

Also, I see that Rupp is now offering ceramic coating to protect the finish. Anyone have any experience with this product yet.

They should fasten the same as the current install if the same size. Heard different opinions on the ceramic coatings and would still have to clean the salt off after fishing trips. One recent thread was saying RejeX polymer sealant would last around a year on riggers.

Unfortunately, we are on a "transom to transom" dock where everyone wipes down or uses a spot free system or both. If you are not washing at the exact same time as your neighbors, you really should mind your overspray. This makes rinsing riggers nearly impossible without moving the boat.

Admittedly, the riggers have held up well in spite of this arrangement. However, I'm hoping/wondering if the ceramic may keep them shining a bit longer. Perhaps ceramic coating with a layer of RejeX would be in order.

With regard to the mounting holes. I am afraid that the yard may have filled them. I just sent a text to determine.

When it comes to wax and ceramic discussions, it's good to know the specific product. Apparently, some big-name spray ceramics are not so good. THIS is my go-to for product comparison:

Oop's, they got ahead of you. Not too hard of a job, but would be convenient to give them the job. Rinsing metal after a day on the ocean is important. Would be good if ya'll could co-ordinate wash downs. Sounds like there is not much room between the transoms, Rupp has collapsable supports to drop the riggers if that would work.

There's a lot of discussion about old formula versus new formula, so don't let that $7.59 price get you too excited. I've got a bottle of old, and smeared it on my car over a year ago. Still beading up!

    Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, we are usually the last back to the dock. With a 70 mile run, I like to get the most out of that diesel fuel, and fish late. Plus, most of my neighbors have crews that wash their boats immediately upon return. I prefer to rinse ice cubes with bourbon when I get in, and set aside washing the boat for the cool of the next morning.

The yard wants to fill all the holes and start over. However, they say they will wait and dry fit the new ones, before paint, if I get them there in a week or two.

I am now waiting to get the model number off of the riggers for Rupp to match them up, and answer my questions about the ceramic coating.

Model number was illegible on both riggers. Rupp took an educated guess based on length and configuration. I'm asking a couple of dealers to quote them too.

I was a bit taken aback by the price to ceramic coat the outriggers. I don't want to penny pinch at this point, but I think it is off the list for now.
