Been there a few days now. I was wondering why she was not there already cutting up the wreck?
I need to remind all of my painful concern.
Why The Frack is this taking so long? Why was this rig not pulled from mothballs a year ago. Parts of the wreck could already be removed by now.

So why is this sight blowing the area residents? Oh, streets are finally cleaned up? A deer was rescued? Mask and Covid suits were donated? But the fu**ing wreck is still there with no explanation why it is there yet.

Drop this in the Liquordale or Miami close to shore and I'd bet it would of been gone a year ago and the locals still blown...

Divorce attorney always opens the first consult with, "What is the value of the estate?" In this case there is also an incentive to parse this work out over the long term to fund it via fresh policy renewal increases from the market as opposed to reaching for cash reserves.

Still making slow laps. Fernandina is a small port and this must have been taking up some serious room.
Doing slow laps off shore with 3 support tugs is not cheap.

You may not be far off.
    Or;
Nice south east wind in tonight. If they are waiting on high water, it's now.

Noon today, heading back into port.
Funny way to run a salvage ship.

    Found the answer.
Because of C-19 AND we are in the hurricane season. All has stopped.
Surprise: it is hurricane season with out warning. BS.
These meat heads just do not want to remove that hulk. If they did, it would be gone by now.

If they drug this POS out of here before it rolled over, it would just be a funny memory now. Oh, wait, there was smoke from somewhere??
NTSB has yet to make a real report. Of course, they can not comment on the farce after the fact.

If that tub moves because of a storm or hurricane, they would have to start this mess all over again with these stupid screens and piles. Including enabling new pollution risk. You guys see the size if the screens, You can swim thru it. What is that going to stop..

Scrap market has Covid, too. They underbid and are hiding behind environmental alibis while hoping the market improves.

Really depends here on the business plan behind the bid and its funding. If this material was being processed on site, barge loaded, and destined for Chinese export, well, Hong Kong is all kung fuey, scrap is bottlenecking. If they've had to shift that plan to the domestic market, even US Steel in Birmingham (closest by road?) is dropping and stockpiling. It's bit of a tight market now, and the steel is best left in place in reserve for future markets. My two cents.

So here it's a matter of funding. The job was likely being backed by support of the buyer or broker, and I can see where that path is dry. Gotta wonder if this contract was bonded for performance? One would think such a size and sensitive project would require bonding, but did it? This ship should be long gone if properly funded.
