What does it mean if you receive the messaged "banned" when you try to long in?

Sounds like you tried to log-in from an IP address that has been banned? FWIW, we've only banned about a half-dozen people in 18 years, but we've banned 1000's of IP addresses from spammers.

OK> It happened to my dock mate here on Long Island. I'll tell him to try a different IP. Hope you are staying safe.

Help my (and other tech-toddlers) education guys. How do you use a different IP except by changing carriers or moving? Thought that was determined by my carrier and physical location.

Yes and Yes (usually). I believe Cell phone internet changes it's IP address everytime you use it. Cable/DSL the IP always stays the same. Obviously some places can be flagged like a library......etc.

Thanks. Great info. I can go VPN on my phone, but don't think I can on my computer. J, any idea about satellite internet? I recently dumped Optimum and went with Hughesnet.

My new thread "Boat sales are booming" was moved to a non-primetime area and closed. I think it's a relevant topic especially since it addresses a lot of new and potentially inexperienced boaters on the water. Can you tell me why you closed it? And is it not your practice to inform the OP of it's closure?

Sorry Brian, this had nothing to do with you. The thread was a good topic, but it degraded. New visitors usually check the General Discussion forum first. If they see friction between members, they will go elsewhere so I moved the thread to a less visible forum and locked it.
