Does anyone have spec sheets for the DD 12V92TTA DDEC engine and specifically what hp ratings they were available in? I'm being asked to validate if my new CAT C-18 1150 hp are an increase or same hp as the old 12V92TTA's that came out. All the info that came with the boat (very limited) list the DD's as 1150 hp. But none of this info is anything official. However, over the past years and online searches I was never able to find a listing for this rating. The closest thing I could find was a 1,080 hp rating. Even when I had the DD's completely rebuilt the DD shop that did the work said they could not verify exactly what hp rating they were even with a serial # search. The boat is a 1994 Donzi Z-54 so I'm guessing engines are maybe 1993 built. I have the serial numbers but that never seemed to help. Donzi (Rosciolli) could not help either. All the info I could find on the 1080 hp model seemed to match mine and looked the same except the heat exchanger but I'm told that is not uncommon to have builders use something different to fit specific boat configurations. Appreciate any help.

Thanks PB. I don't see any way to match mine to exactly which one it is but this is starting to confirm my suspicion that there never was an 1150.

The other thing to do is call the service desk at FDDA and ask them to look up your engine serial numbers, they should have been around during the initial sea trial at Roscioli and have filed the baseline data for the engines to start warranty back in the day.

My notes show 1990 to 1996, 1110 Gross HP, 1075 Net HP.
To me, That's flywheel and prop shaft HP.

Boatdiesel.com has the spec sheet that you are looking for. They were rated at 1110 Bhp for the DDEC engine.

I had a look because I was curious to check, power aside, how much the repower will help in terms of weight reduction.
Which will indeed be a relevant contribution, since I see that each of the old lumps of iron was close to 6k lbs, no less!
I'm in doubt about whether that includes the g/box or not, though.
In their brochure they always seem to consider the whole package, also in the dimensions, but for the weight it's not specified.
    Do you possibly know?

Usually in those standard brochures when they state a gear model the weights include that gear as well.

Surveyors and insurance companies look at these things. Did you make a race boat, will it go faster now, Past hull mfg specs, will it fall apart??
I'm sure all will be accepted with no issues to safety.
However your next insurance issue will be agreed boat value. Going to be hard to agree on this.
If you ask for more value in your boat as you just installed, the insurance wants to insure their poker hand is still safe. Also, more value the taller the premium.
The value top limit$ may be different between the insurance company and your expectations of value.

Now, HP & Weight are just some variables in the performance topic post above.
    Torque curve,
    Gear ratio,
    Shaft size,
    Propeller design,
    I recall ; New Struts,
    Weight distribution
And I'm sure some other changes in the big boat picture.

I'm thinking the new and fresh wheels may ad a lil more lift in the aft, helping on the trim tab question on the other thread.
I'm thinking the new torque curve will offer a stronger RPM range to cruise (fast and slow) on plane.
Hope I'm wrong here, I'm thinking your going to need to drag a sea anchor in front of your teasers when you troll on one engine.
That sea anchor attached to the running engine side.
I'm thinking you will be able to whisper to the other end of the boat and the fish will still hear you. :D:D:D

    Can't wait for the trials.

Ask CAT about Telemetry (GPLink.com). I help on a Hatt that has it. I can watch his boat and engine data on my desk top.
Oh, Also a data collector and tracker that your insurance company would like.
When a smoke detector goes off, battery level gets low or bilge pump runs x times, a pile of people get called, including me.

Could be fun watching the engine numbers come up on all of the forums members computer displays.

Gotcha, thanks. Still, a remarkable weight saving anyhow.

Dockmaster, you'd better wait to antifoul the boat after the first seatrial.
The previous w/line might turn out to be a bit too high on the hull sides, now...! :)

Thanks everyone. My question was to be able to answer/satisfy insurance. I really appreciate all the help. I will tell them we went from 1,110 hp to 1,150. They have already said this will not be an issue.
As for the weight issue, we did all this math so we could spec the right props. Especially since we went from 1.66:1 (Maybe 1.64:1 based on recent docs. Labels were hard to read) to 2:1 gear ratio. Our math showed the new CAT/ZF saves right at 800#’s per side (1,600#’s total). We probably shaved a few hundred #’s elsewhere too but added a little with bigger shafts. Yes, this will certainly help but in the grand scheme of things, it’s the same as 253 gallons of diesel once consumed. Makes a difference yes, but not significant.
No need to change the waterline. I’ve added a lot of weight to this boat and never changed waterline. This reduction will just help offset a bunch of stuff added.
Don’t think I’ll need to drag a sea anchor for slow trolling. That’s why we have low idle mode and trolling valves. One engine running, in troll, should be good for the 2.0 knots we want on average for Chinook.
Again, really appreciate everyone’s help solving the hp question.
