I have recently discovered a crack in the barrel of my "2004" Cabo 35 prop strut. I have also heard this could be a manufactures defect. Does any body have any wisdom on this subject?

Older Cabos were built on your left side.
I understood the original crew is running a new company.

Hatteras has been supporting them since purchase.
Tape on the original folks for there source on struts (probably local to you), then Hatteras and Sams.
    Good luck.

The best local wisdom you will find will be at Basin Marine boatyard in Newport Beach, they know the boat inside and out.

Are these the last of the kids who built her?

I've never heard of struts cracking on Cabo's and have been around a lot of them. I think if it were a thing, you would've seen it far sooner than 18 years of use.

They were the local commissioning yard and helped put together all the special models as well as the Cabo owner’s personal boats. Part of the extended but not immediate family.

Here's some wisdom from another thread; I just thought I'd tie the two threads together: https://www.yachtforums.com/threads/cabo-yachts.3664/page-2#post-291505

Montclair Bronze is who we used. There were strut issues across all our models around that year. Had a similar issue on our 40's struts and it was an 04. The foundry will work with you direct or like PacBlue said Basin is familiar with them and the process.
