If you take off, you must land. A law of nature. Therefor; Always a good pilot.
It's the better pilot who can walk away from his last landing.

I'm getting a chuckle from my next thought, it could be the meds I'm on;
I can imagine some tempers and language was expressed off camera.
If the surrounding boat crews kept throwing the bad driver back into the water (I'd sure do it), could that still be a good landing?

If he lost his stb, a good driver would have know he was screwed and hand lined it anywhere.
Or at least done this maneuver anyway else than what he did.

I was on one boat where the owner wanted to drive, two captains on board.
(I was the guest captain). After putting his 80 high on the bar at The New River and the ICW, he screamed at the both of us for not guiding him. I'm a guest, all knows where I was.
I had a key to another boat at the Bihia Mar and was heading that way (back stroke).
The wife's finally calmed him down. Something about fancy swim suites that could not get wet as he was instructing them onto the bar to push off.

There are owners out there like this. No kidding...

Boat owner is responsible for getting the boat into show location, not the show organizer. Not a good place to not know how to drive a boat.

Had the pleasure a few years ago, while living aboard at Phila. Marine Center,to watch the owner of an 80' something green hulled Burger run the boat instead of the full time Captain . He was unable to get out of the marina entrance , which is 90 degree hard to starboard ,with little current in the end of marina right into the ships channel 3-4 knot current .
His boat was so long the bow got out into the current, incoming, mid ships-stern still in the non-current water and pushed the Burger up against the old concrete ships pier with all of those old nasty iron bolts and such sticking out... Ugh! He went back and forth on those things , tearing up the hull real well.
Luckily no other boats were around.

I managed one owner operator boat for a while.
The props were always needing repair. The owner always blamed it on his wife's driving not able to stay in the channel.
One day, I rode with them, he was driving, then Chomp, chomp, The owner was yelling about the low water in the channel.
I came up and pointed out that he was way out of the lake worth channel, the owner argued and pointed to the next day marker coming up on the correct side. I had to point out the past day marker not to his stern where it should be but to the after quarter +.
The easterly breeze (not wind), was blowing his slow pace out of the channel, all he looked at was the next day marker.
