My boss is thinking of shipping his boat to the med for the summer, (no specifics yet), We do not charter. Will my USCG license be all I need? I don't have the new STCW done yet, I am working on it. Will that have to be completed to go? Any Idea who to call that could help me (without calling each country)? Thank you.

Anywhere around Italy, unless you are an IT citizen, yep, your USCG license is enough.
I would think it's accepted also in other Med Countries, but don't take my word for this.

That aside, don't forget that unless the boat is registered in a EU Country, you are "only" allowed a temporary admission up to 18 months.
After that, the boat would be considered imported in the EU and as such subject to VAT and duties, regardless of whether actually sold or not.
Actually, if your boss should wish to stay for longer, it's sufficient to move the boat outside the EU (e.g. to Tunisia) for a while, and then re-start the 18 months allowance.
But that's for another future thread...

PS: Welcome in advance, and feel free to ask for suggestions! :)

Do you mean in other Med Countries?
Can't tell for sure, but the most popular international qualification in EU is the RYA Yachtmaster with commercial endorsement, which can have also the STCW endorsement, but not necessarily.
In your case, the STCW would appy as an endorsement of the USCG license, I suppose?
If so, I don't think any Med Country specifically require it, but as I said, I'm not 100% sure.

You should have all of your STCW up to date for port state inspections if you get boarded. Original docs to be kept aboard in lieu of copies. Port state control has stepped up their inspections the last few yrs in all of the Med and they can be a PIA if not properly equipped with up to date paperwork for all crew and the vessel. PYA can inform you of all required paperwork that's needed for every country.

PYA, Professional Yachtsman's Association. Good organization for yacht captains and crew. There will be a membership fee. If your not registered as a commercial vessel than PSI wont apply as long as you don't have any incidents where the inspectors would board for cause like fuel spills or sewage discharge etc. If this is your first time in the Med than I do recommend that you hire an agent to handle your paperwork for clearances ,berthing , fuel etc.

Many good yacht agents in the Med. "All Services" in San Remo Italy is excellent company that I've used many times as well as the Louise Group in Naples. Both are outstanding and a joy to work with. Work with an agent that's fairly close in proximity to where your going to cruise be it eastern Med or western Med i.e., don't use a agent out of France if your cruising Turkey or Greece etc.

I guess it's actually Luise Group you that you have in mind.
Just in case the OP wouldn't find any "Louise"...
