Damen/Amels has launched their first Seaxplorer - a 62m build based off their 65m platform. She is currently outside the shed and awaiting to go in the water.

Looks like she may be the new "Karima". Paint scheme is the same, and the 1993 Amels Karima is now for sale with Fraser, who also managed the build of the new 62M.

That is a very good observation. The paint work is very similar. Nameplate is covered but the size of it could fit those number of letters.

She looks nice. Glad they faired the hull.

Non-fairing of a Hull is a choice yes and there is a valuable logic behind it, however it is not that "yachty".. it simply doesnt look pleasing to the eye having that uneven surface just below a high glossy full faired supertructure.A number of non-faired big yachts ,soon after their deliveries had to get scaffolding erected around the topsides (see Luna, Andromeda etc)in order to smoothen the ageessive look of dents and welding seams.

In that case a middle point would be to fairing of hull with a Matt finishing topcoat -even a commercial finish coat can work( as perfectly seen on that occasion with the Damen Sea Xplorer boat)

Yes it will be cheaper to not fair the hull and more practical if she ends up in the ice as intended as that will ultimately mess up the paint. I remember when the concept was first launched that the thought was that it would go through ice stern first. I’m curious if that is still the case.
