I’ve owed a V62 since 2013. It’s a great boat. It runs very well, easy 30kt cruise. As for blue water ride it’s not going to ride like a viking sport fish in seas but I’ve been very happy with the boat. I’m in the process of trading it in for a V72

Do they still make that model? Thought it was changed for the V78.

They stopped production of the V 62 about two years ago. It was replaced by the V 60 and now there is a V 65 above it which is a four stateroom boat.

The V62 rides very well. It is a very stable and quiet ride. I boat in the Northeast out on Long Island and take many trips to Martha’s Vineyard and Newport. I also boat in Florida in the winter and frequent the Bahamas for vacations.

Mine is a 2013. I’ve had no issues. I l0ve the boat and the princess brand. I’m trading the V62 for a V72 this week. I like the more classic look of the Princess then the more futuristic Sunseeker. I had a 46 Sunseeker portofino and a Princess V53 in the past. I prefer the Princess to Sunseeker. The V65 is a nice boat for the money. The only drawbacks compared to newer mod4ls is the lack of the aft full beam master stateroom and the sliding glass doors for the upper salon which makes that area much more livable in bad weather. I would consider looking at a later model V52 which can be had for similar or slightly more money.

Given the choice, I'd rather have a Sunseeker for the ride and build quality over the Princess. The 62' Sunseeker Predator....or whatever the size is on the Predator on the years you're looking at, is a terrific sea boat.

thanks guys..sunseeker was the other option..the helm side door on the the 65 is rather unique and I believe important for 2 man( which includes me and 1 wife lol) operation ..glad you are enjoying the boat line, says alot too..So dont want pods on older 53..good news is all v65 2007 and up have full beam master and sliding doors...keeping the boat in Puerto rico so will look like hell in 2 years anyway hahaha..sun ,salt and sargasum gas..

That’s great. I never knew they changed the master and added glass doors. My v53 was a 2009, back then I wasn’t looking for anything bigger Good luck on your search. Let us know how it turns out.

My 62 is in Florida now and so is the 72. I keep it at Williams Island in the winter. I left it there to do some refit over the summer because good work up north is so hard to find. My broker called me regarding trading the 62 for the 72 and the deal was too good to pass up. I haven’t seen any later model V65s. Are you searching or did you find one that’s not listed on yachtworld?

Things might have changes since there has been a significant overhaul in the last year or so but on the topic of British yachts, thoughts on Fairline? I think the first of the new 65 GTO has finally hit the US and the 68 fly has just been launched and sea trialed. I really love the designs but don’t know much on the quality. I know we have one member who had a 74 I believe before going for the SL 86.

I know a broker of Fairline and says the quality is really good. I have no idea. I recently ran a 2013 78' and was very un-impressed with the build quality.

All of my boats have been American spec boats. Aside from the differences in electric hook up some European spec boats may have lower output generators as well as lower capacity AC units. This used to be a bigger problem in the past when there were less models imported to the US but I think this issue is much better now. I would like to hear some opinions from some of the more experienced captains on the forum regarding European spec boats brought to America.

I've dealt with several newer Princess and Sunseekers. Having to order the "tropical A/C" is still an option and not standard on US spec boats. They arrive here as U.S. spec, neither company has to modify them. It's the same generator physical size, but say at 15 kw at 60 cycles and a 12 kw at 50 cycles, because the 60 cycle generators run at 1800 rpms and the 50 cycles run at 1500 rpms and make less HP and less KW. But with both brands I don't see any Euro spec stuff on them.

So if you are purchasing a European boat there’s a good likelihood that you do not have the better AC units and higher output generator correct? Specifically, I’m talking about a boat that was produced to European specifications and then transported to the US for use. What issues with someone be likely to experience if bringing over a boat that has European spec AC units and generator?

All of the boats I dealt with were U.S. spec.. Yes, there's a good likelihood you'd have the smaller A/C's and generator. Issues mainly falls on the electrical system. Do you put a converter such as an Atlas on the boat, so the shorepower cord plugs in and it converts 60 cycles to the boat's 50. That works fine (aside from the expense and a place to mount it), but then if you need to replace appliances you need something that will work on 50 cycles. The other option is to just convert every item to 60 cycles. I'd say about half of the things nowadays will run on either 50 or 60 cycles. The other issue I've found on Euro spec boats, is Europeans don't seem to use electrical outlets...…...like the entire salon may have 1 electrical outlet, plus you have to convert all of those to U.S. spec. Everything else seems to be the same for the most part...…..perhaps a few pumps and such are Euro but can find them.

Well said Capt J !! most euro princess boats are coming thru with Onan or Cummins generators and all are rated kw..irregardless of 50/60 cycle..I e seen both viking and euro princess use the same size gen on most models..I'll be picking up 220v blenders and all of sorts of appliances when in europe lol ,far cheaper than re wiring a boat for 115v or accepting approx half the amp capacity at the outlets when rewiring outlets only..I'm going with the atlas style power convertor in the lazarette....on the a/c appears btu capacity is same on viking and euro versions..but everyone should check there specific boat before deciding..
