After I posted I thought who purchased the props. But if the owner gave erroneous data to the yard and the yard ordered the props and that led to the messed up “sizing” then where are we now? If I was the boat owner and gave them inaccurate performance data I would suffer the consequences. I am far from Jesus, Muhammad, et al and keenly aware of my shortcomings but dishonesty and laziness are not among them. That being said I cracked the case on a ZF transmission a couple of years ago. And they no longer made the gears which led me to changing both. An expensive proposition. I was amazed at the number of people who encouraged me to say I ran aground and give it to the insurance company. I did not.

Great. You're an ethical person. Glad we have that covered.

I think again you missed Post 32.

Whoever he bought them from is on the hook. However, they completely void the engine manufacturers demand that they reach a certain RPM at WOT, they're not even close, so they need to fix the issue now...…….if it was 50-75 RPM's off, fine let them ride till winter, but not what he's missing in RPM's.

If he swaps them now, ACME will most likely take them back from their vendor. If they wait till winter, then chances are they won't and chances are they will force him to re-pitch and chances are that won't be enough and then can never re-pitch them more. So then it's a huge mess.

Of my decades of experience in the marine industry, I have never once saw a used yacht with the same engines and propellors it was delivered with, that had to have the props re-pitched to ADD pitch. If wheels needed re-pitching it was because they needed some taken out.

No need for any friction. I misread the OP’s post as “I can’t guarantee......”. That was the reason for the statements that I was open minded that I was wrong or what have you. Indeed I was wrong. The possibility of my making mistakes is the reason for all the prefacing I do. I try hard not to be offensive in disagreement. I thought I had stated my erroneous position in a way that would not offend you. Offending you was not my goal and I apologize if I did.

The post are coming so fast I am working on one post and missing the others. Please see my post number 44. No need for the sarcasm. I am starting to wonder if it is possible to have an honest disagreement on the internet not get ugly.

    Just again for clarification sake.

I buggered the Port prop on a rock. The prop is DOA period, end of story, not repairable. The yard and prop company ,one in the same, could not replace the Port prop to match the starboard one.
So, we'll replace both, ACME is the chosen replacement by the yard. Okay, go ahead and do what you have to, just get me moving again.
New props come in, Launched, can't fully test as there is insufficient water in the area. I must leave to find open water for test. That was 5 days and 75miles and 16 locks ago. I am not returning to an area that I can't run on plane in.
I'm working my way to winter haulout in 8 days.
The yard is on notice, they'll be swapped out when we haul.
I had I repeat to those that need it, I did not select the props, I left that to the professionals.

I will run some speed /RPM tests along the way just to confirm and help with the selection.

Are we disagreeing, or are you misreading? I don't think you can have both in this instance. You joined the conversation without reading the thread carefully, called us out for giving poor advice as to responsibility, doubled down on that call out with a declaration of your high level of ethic, and then circled back to state that you missed some posts that are coming up too fast, giving an indication that you were agreeing to be out of line with your input in spite of your high degree of ethic.

And then you want to snark off opposing views and justifiable sarcasm with, get this, sarcasm. This is not "an honest disagreement". You missed posts and facts. As the original poster has now wrapped, the yard and the prop manufacturer are going to make this right for him.

Good time to stop with the feigned victimhood from nasty internet bullies. Keep up the ethics exercises.

Yes, you did, and apology accepted. All I'm (we're) trying to do is to assist. There was nothing improper or unethical in our input or advice. The OP seems to have this all under control.

I sincerely appreciate post 48 but post 47 seems a bit of an over reaction, but despite trying to “honestly” disagree I offended you so you think I had a shot coming. It is not about victimhood. It is about how we as a society are at each other’s throats nowadays and I wonder if how we behave on the internet is part of that. That is why I thought I made a legitimate effort to respectfully disagree with what I erroneously believed you were recommending. Once again I apologize to you and the forum for wasting everyone’s time.

    Lol, Well put.
MBevins, sounds like you got a little to much prop for your boat...I've delt with ACME directly for sizing my props. You can call them or just fill out their questionnaire for them to size your props on the ACME web sight. Just for your own info and to keep your yard on the same page....

Hey MBevins, Ya want to go faster? What HP tune do you have? or just give me a 671 serial number.

I wouldn't rule it out. Wouldn't hurt to change primaries and secondaries and give it a run just to be 100% sure.

Okay , just for more Sts and giggles.
What's the odds of both engines having dirty filters and then both engines turning the exact FL wot?

Very good as they’re both drinking the same fuel. If you’re running 30 micron racers instead of 10’s, it’s highly likely the secondaries are clogged and the racers still look good. It’s one thing I would rule out, unless you have ddecs and have a fuel pressure reading at cruise.

Unless the props are stamped wrong, you went down 1” of pitch, they perform the same until 1900 rpms, but then you’re down 200 rpms wot. That’s considerable.

No, When the boat is in slings, those fuel tanks really get extra sloshing about.
If your going to log some runs, your going to want all supper dupper while doing so anyway.

Maybe the same tank, maybe not. I'm just trying to be thorough.
