Anyone own any Exotic cars?

To be fair, the 718 GT4 and Spyder are both significantly more expensive than the Supra... like 65% more.

Base 718 vs Supra is almost dollar for dollar... and on pure performance the Supra wins, hands down.

I got a chance to take a brief ride in one today.

It does not disappoint.

Grr.... What grinds my gears is that the Toy is almost a last Gen Beemer, like asking top dollar for a Chrysler Crossfire that was a 10 year old SLK.

I'm sure it goes really well, but it's the price-point that's going to be the killer. Will it have the quality the old ones had, still see one every morning.

HOW is it a last gen Beemer? The chassis is a clean-sheet design based on an architecture (CLAR) that in its entirety is only 4 years old.

The only old ones I've ever seen still running have either been babied, rarely driven, or entirely rebuilt/restored.... so I couldn't comment on their original quality, but I'm sure the Mk V is up to Toyota's modern standards, which means it'll last forever like they all do.

Came across an article this weekend that confirms what I felt on the test ride... the Supra definitely has more HP than the 335 it's supposed to have. A dyno run confirmed that it actually puts out north of 370 stock. (376 hp / 390 lb-ft)

Where things start to get exciting is that a simple remap bumps that figure to 420 hp, and 440 lb-ft of torque.

The guy who has taken on the workshop next to our's has jigs and models for just about every classic Jag body panel going and makes them by hand.

Very, very skilled. Do you think, if we crowd-funded it, he could build us one of these?

This is my neighbour Zef on his road-legal jetbike. He's also got a 1000hp Porsche 911.

This car was covered with 37 years of dirt and mold but still a testimony of quality...

Makes me wonder how a modern SL will hold up over the next 37 years. Yesterday they were built to last. Today, they are built to feed the replacement part business. Programmed obsolescence?
