Maybe... or maybe a Sister 'Alida' built in 1922 for Lizzy (axe) Borden's cousin. http://www.oldpokerchips.com/NonNevada/Alida.htm
Never mind the porthole count, which is probably driven by the accommodation plan, and might well be different on each side. The two photos at first look are a remarkable match, but close examination of the stem profile and the tumblehome at the transom suggest two different boats, as if some toff took a magazine photo to his builder on the other coast and said "I'll have one of these".
A true expert has confirmed for me; She is a single issue built by and at George S. Lawley & Sons, Neponset MA. and completed in 1922. Her Official Number would be 222210, Gross Tonnage 212 and LOA 135 feet. Built for and delivered to Bertram H Borden as M/Y Alida. She would later be renamed 'Victoria Mary'
If I am not mistaken, the old Lawley shipyard is now the home of MarineMax Rousso & Boston Harbor Distillery. Coincidentally, I noticed the Rousso Marine facility from I-93, last Thursday returning to Boston from Plymouth.
Welcome to YF Purdyboats. Looks like you've got some heritage there, and now a search on your hands. Since this is from almost 3 years ago click on the names Fishtigua and Affrayedknot and then click on start a conversation to send them a PM. I think they'll be able to help you.
I have written two books about the Purdy Boat Company, Boats by Purdy (Tiller, 2003), and The Many Lives of Aphrodite (Trafford 2010), as well as articles in WoodenBoat and Classic Boating magazines.
