Looking northeast from Elandess. Gene Machine is rafted next door. It was suppose to be on the face dock at the superyacht pavilion but draft exceeded depth.

Carl toured Abeking’s Aviva with the project manager.

Paddle boards by Malibu - they are a work of art... much like the rest of the boat.

Aviva has an airfoil mounted to the exhaust funnel. This was not a design exercise. It has a function. The lift generated by the top of the wing draws the exhaust up and over the aft deck.

Aviva’s tender. Originally designed as a stepped hull but rollers on Abeking’s launch cradle would prevent deployment. This pic was taken as the tender went under the 17th St. causeway bridge.

How does Aviva have such clean exterior lines? The air intakes are located inboard the superstructure, forward of the bridge.

Aviva's decks double as a jogging track. There’s enough steps on this boat to eliminate the stairmaster in the gym.

Some of the engine room pics we will use as reminders while writing. Everything you see was engineered by one of YF’s senior members.

Is the crew being drug tested?

Who can guess the boat this falcon landed on?

At an after show party, Carl saw the perfect girl for Feadship’s Utopia. Or the Viking pictured earlier in this thread.

Walking the docks after hours with Tom Serio, looking for some night shots... Came across a model from Oceanco with a previously unseen level of detail.

    Scale skills... impressive.

Nice model...must have had a healthy budget for that!

I have a lot of photos of the show that I plan on sharing once it is wrapped up. It’s been quite busy here!

Had the opportunity to meet a remarkable person at FLIBS. He’s also a member of YF; GermanYachting, who joined us for a tour of Elandess. His knowledge on large yachts parallels IBM’s Watson. He’s a human stat machine!

I think Tom Serio will upload a few shots later this week while I work on a Lurssen piece that showcases a number of stylistic designs for their new 50-meter platform. Yep, Lurssen’s going to build small boats. :D

I'm still in disbelief that center consoles are as big as yachts now. This is the new 52' Gulfstream Center Console. They are built in Tampa, across from the old Lazzara facility (now Bertram). Four Seven's are trying to pry themselves off the transom.

This is the new R-Class from Princess using an Active Foil System. Port and starboard foils adjust independently of each other. Their positions are calculated a hundred times per second by an onboard computer. Unlike typical foil technologies, AFS does not lift the hull out of the water. Instead, it adjusts the heel angle and attitude for the most effective contact area at various speeds. I haven't personally seen the system or tested it, but in a previous life this was an area of considerable research. I'm curious to see how the market receives it.
