So I’m not sure how many of you have read my couple of posts. But after a couple years and honest to god over a hundred of hours of digging as far as I knew how into the web I think I have found the broward I have been searching for. Going to post a picture of my grandfathers yacht from the mid 1990s. And than two pictures of what I have found. Mind that there was a refit in this yacht in 1999 and maybe another one after. For any of you with more experience in yachting. Let me know what you think. Do you think this is the same boat?
Well, the first photo doesn't show the squared portholes, that could be helpful in order to identify if we are in presence of the same yacht. The most notable difference is the bridge deck, it could have been refitted, but do you know any owner that reduces the volume of the superstructure. I don't know anybody. the windows of the salon seem longer and, I think, in a larger number in the first image. The upright in the corner of the pilothouse is different. As I'm in my vacations, I don't have with me an old issue of a yachting magazine celebrating an anniversary of the Broward Company with the photos of, I think, all the yacht built at the moment that could be of some help. So apart from a strong refit, IMHO. I think that we are in presence of a different boat.
Rectangle portholes that you refer to are engine room vents. Looking at the window lines , shapes, & fwd cabin trunk design leads me to believe that these two photos are of the same vessel.
All porthole locations on house and hull are identical. Hawse location for spring line cleat is identical. Pilothouse windows and door identical. It looks like they may have built up corner post of front windows when they modified the enclosed flybridge and the upper deck ...also extended the salon while reducing the open aft deck space. If you look at the Broward build list I don't see another likely candidate of that same size and era. It's highly likely that it's the same boat.
I heard in the refit they completely redid the top bridge. At first they made it open and than closed it again at a later date.
Bow / side rails are different also. Still, have to look at the build list. How many of these model were built in a close time frame?
