    I have a 1989 3807 with std. saddle tanks and 400 Crusaders. Port side has developed a slow-leak contained in the cradle and requires repair or replacement. Boat is moored in Portage Bay / Seattle and I am looking for anyone with gas tank experience in the aft cabin Carvers.

    Best source for replacement tanks? Engine removal looks like it is needed? Suggestions or repair options?

    1. Karl, I just replaced the starboard tank in my 88 3807, developed leaks due to corrosion under rubber mounting straps on the bottom. It was pretty straight forward, remove wall, remove plywood covering from floor in tank area. (requires cutting the plywood) cut the aluminum 2 inch square floor supports above the tank, leave enough stub to angle iron bolt them back together when done. Remove tank. I realize that you are talking about the port tank, I looked at mine, preparing for the inevitable, and it just requires removing the cabinetry from that side then do as the starboard. There are screws along the bottom of the cabinets that hold them to framework, they might be concealed behind edge of carpet. Good luck, I had a local fabricator in Florida make me a new 140 gallon aluminum tank for about $2k. pm me if you need more info.
