As I am away on vacation, I have asked one of my sons in law, who lives in the area, to take some pictures of the new Luerssen Yacht Project Shu

Thanks to the world wide web, here are some results:

    Shu 1.jpg
Heavy work is under progress on all decks on this pretty cold winter day.

    Shu 2.JPG

Obviously built under Large Passenger Yacht Code as can be seen by the two Fassmer SEL-TR 8.5 SOLAS Life and Rescue boats sitting on the hard in front of the bow.

    Shu 5.jpeg
Life boats with matching hull clour !

    Shu 3.JPG
Wheelhouse located on the main deck, enclosed forward service deck with fold out observation platform and helipad on fore deck above.

    Shu 4.JPG

Second set of pictures with more details:

Shu Center Section with Center Shell Door.JPG
Fold out platform with access to the lower landing of the main staircase and gangway usable for and with platform, main entrance behind gangway (typical layout for larger Luerssen yachts). A crew shell door is on the Bb side (like on the other Yachts). Life boat storage area behind and above main entrance.

Shu Center Section with Life boat Storage Area.JPG
Nice hull colour and as can be expected from this builder, a perfect fairing and paint job on this complicated hull structure.

    Shu Aft Section View.JPG
Pretty large Tender bay with large upward opening hull doors on both sides

    Shu Tender Bay.jpg
The tender bay should be large enough to accomodate two 39 to 40 feet long tender

Shu Aft Section with Tender Bay and Beach club.JPG
Behind the tender garage, a large beach club with opening balconies on both sides. Must be a nice disco in there, if You look at what appears to be the loudspeaker arrays, on both sides of the balconies.

Wow nice photos! Showed a lot of detail too. Hopefully we'll see this yacht cruising in different areas. Not just a year round Mediterranean yacht like Dilbar, or a yacht that will never leave the Middle East like Azzam. Hopefully we'll see her travel in different areas of the world.

    Third set of picture:

Shu Aft Section with large Heli Deck.JPG
Rear section of the yacht shows a nice bathing and boarding platform at the stern and above and under the cover most likely a descent pool. On the aft upper deck a second large (looks like SOLAS certified) helicopter landing pad for an at least 5 ton helicopter.

    Shu Aft Heli Deck.JPG
Also there is an high enough structure for a helicopter hangar (storage area), there appears to be none. Fairing that hull must have been a tough job for the subcontractor. Not only by the area to be faired but also by this multiple curved surfaces.

    Aft Aspect View.jpg
Nicely proportioned boat and designed boat. Still with Megayacht Appearance and not looking like a small cruise ship. IMO, that hull design will set a new design trend.

    Shu Stern with Boarding Platform.JPG
    Shu General aft View.JPG
Interesting feature in front of the mast. Its either an observation salon accross twodecks or a nicely glassed gallery. Must be very pleasant for an designer and naval architect to spoil so much volume. Looks like some 35 to 40 crew.

    To be continued

The hull colour and boot line 'radiates' the possible clue.

I just came off the middle watch during my present sailing trip (GMT+11 time zone). Means, I am not really awake.

Ron, I believe, this is the hull colour and bootline You are talking about (picture was taken in 2010 by one of my family members or me at the Neue Jade Werft (Luerssen) in Northern Germany) where Radiant was moored for several month.

    IMG_14.JPG
But this boat was initially not built for an middle east owner. The sister ship to Pelorus was built at Luerssen as Project Darius for an gentleman from an eastern European country. During the later state of the built, the original owner run into financial trouble and failed one or more installments. The built was placed on hold and the boat under construction was brought on the market by the original owner and the yard via different brokers. After a quite long and very dirty fought legal dispute in different countries, the yacht was finally sold for 240 Mio Euros to the present owner a member of a famous middle east family and renamed Radiant. The legal disputes also involved the commisions for the brokers and one captain, which nobody wanted to pay. I have read some of the protocols of the legal proceedings. Nothing, one wants to be involved with.

But I am with You in certain aspects. Both yachts have many similarities in many details.

Seems like she is built on the same platform as Thunder.

A recently sold yacht (and its support vessel) also share Project SHU's color scheme.

You could be onto something there. If I recall correctly, the yacht manager had 130m under their supervision.

Is she still carrying a protective film on the superstructure or is the light blue the final paint ?
