From the little I know it's a nice family oriented marina. There are generally kids around. It's decent facilities, docks maintained well. Most of the docking is stern in and finger piers are shorter in some areas than others. Would you be in a slip or on an end tie? I ask because the end ties, especially nearest the ICW could get a decent amount of wake. Both the Nawti Dawg and Cap's Place are popular and good restaurants right there. Cap's Place is interesting as you go to their dock and then they boat you to the restaurant I believe. You're located 1-1.5 miles from groceries and other shopping in Pompano.

I really liked it. Right near Hillsboro inlet, lots of boat traffic to keep you entertained. For me it is the right amount going on. Not too wild but not too slow. It appears to be well managed.

It's amazing hoe near Pompano Beach and Lighthouse Point are to Fort Lauderdale but a very different atmosphere. Very nice family area and nice community near by. Marinas as well as homes much less expensive as well.

The Pompano Beach expert, Capt J, should pop in at some point and will know everything about Lighthouse Point. He really knows that area.

It's a great place. As mentioned, very family oriented. OK restaurant on site. You will definitely need a car to reach everything else. Not that far away, but far enough for a car.
Convenient to the inlet and plenty of restaurants to go to by boat that are less than a 1/2 hour away.
I live in that area and it's really nice, safe and less hectic than Ft. Lauderdale.

I know people who have vacation homes in the area as well, and it's the only place they want to be. You get a familiarity with the nearby restaurants and the shopping and rarely need to leave the area. Nothing within walking distance. Everything within 5 miles.

I would say you need a car, but then some of that is how much and there are many visitors who do just fine with Uber or Taxis. It's easy to get either one as we're in a prime market for such transportation.

One other note is that there is all sorts of discount car rental available in the area. One of the most competitive markets in the country.

We stayed there briefly and found it to be pleasant, but it is rather distant from stores, restaurants, etc. You will need a car.

The admiral and I checked it out about a year ago and it seemed well maintained and the staff was pleasant. There was a waiting list, so you may have to wait your turn. Agreed on needing a car (or Lyft or Uber?)

Thank you for the input, mates. I have sent them an inquiry. I was expecting to have to rent a car no matter where we stay?

What everyone else said, .5 mile to inlet, nice marina. Breakfast/lunch/dinner restaurant at the Marina (Nauti Dog's). Cap's place picks up next door to the marina and the ferry takes you there, excellent seafood dinner and Broward County's oldest restaurant since the 1920's and was a speakeasy. Aside from that, you are not walking to the beach by any means, but could tender .5 miles and beach the tender at the inlet and be on the beach in 100 yards. You are not accessing anything else without a car either, except many restaurants and shopping within a mile or so.

What are you looking for in a marina? Everyone's tastes and amenities differ greatly. Also what is your price point? Cheaper or price no object? If price are no object, and most amenities Boca Resort or Bahia Mar.

Indeed, a few parameters would have be the intelligent post! So south FL, less than an hour from an airport, well kept, good facilities, restaurant( doesn't have to be fancy), doesn't have to be close to an inlet, not a constant party, walking distant to retail. Cost commensurate with quality.

Boca Resort- a true 5 star facility with a ferry that takes you to their beach resort (no floating docks)
Bahia Mar-across from the beach, stores, restaurants, pool etc.
Pier 66 (sort of walking distance from retail but has several restaurants.

Sands Harbor meets your parameters aside from the floating dock. Walk to beach, a few restaurants on site, many others within 2 blocks. no floating docks. LHP doesn't have floating docks either.

After our Tortuga & Keys return trip a bit ago. We tied up at Bahia-Mar.
Near had the place to ourselves. Dockage was ea$y for 2 nights.
JWY may help my memory (she bought first round with leg in cast), was this early July?
We may have had an off rate but cheap and wonderful service.
