After looking at the pictures, that statement could be described as an understatement.

I'm really interested how that would happen outside of running into a dock at high speed.

Yeah no kidding... there seems to be only 2 or 3 meters near the aft that isn't damaged.

If insurance is not marine specialized this might be a big headache for the owner.

Owner asking insurance for cash, insurance claims harbor, harbor is making never ending investigation of what happened.
    Hope I am wrong.

Here are photos of the swell that came into the port. The Port is very exposed when its a SW blowing. There was a weather warning for strong winds. The Link that AMG posted was a storm that came though without warning and it was hurricane force winds with rain. From what i understand the Capt was at the boat but left and the ground lines snapped later on.
This is the swell that came over the wall

Doesn't seem like the best place in the world to moor or dock. Is there no way to build a break wall or put any sort of attenuation in as it seems repeatedly the issue is the swells? Certainly a situation outside the realm of any I've been around or know to have happened in this part of the world.

A break wall wont work and the Green party wont allow it. The link i have posted is Port Adriano on the same cost line of Port Andratx. The video is a few years old but this is what they experienced when the storm came through.
