Captholli, I do agree with you and your assessment on seakeepers. They REALLY shine at rest and slow speeds of 12 knots and under (hull speed). I have found they do help running fast, BUT only marginally. Maybe a 20% improvement. However the boat in question is a slow one with a top speed of 10 knots. Zero speed Stabilizers in comparison are only marginally better at rest or perhaps better than marginally but not nearly effective as the Seakeepers. That being said I thought about mentioning paravanes, but at rest they don't do much of anything usually.
On the mangusta you mentioned. I've heard the Humprees system works very well on a boat like that, and simply relies on tab's. I've used it and on a vessel with a 28.5 knot cruise it worked well. So maybe those and the existing seakeepers would be the way to go.

I too have seen a combo of seakeeper and stabilizers, but on a lot of boats under 100' it's just too much weight and components usually.

Northwind, I am a long time forum member who doesn't post much and wanted you to know that I understand that you are looking for relevant opinions not necessarily the answer. As if there is one answer. As a person who enjoys learning particularly by reading forums that interest me I have become aware of a phenomenon where there is the intellectual equivalent (that is always on forums)that reminds me of a trained fighter who goes into bars and picks fights with people who he feels the odds are heavily in his favor. Marmot is obviously knowledgable but his goal is not to teach or inform but it is to get on the Internet and kick some ass. Ignore him and those of his ilk and stay on the forum. Growing up and working my entire life in construction I have grown to realize that the really good engineers know to take the input of the" dumb ass " lay person who actually does the work. When you get the layman and the engineer working together with mutual respect of each other's background that's when progress is made. Also I love those types that are experts in one area and think they are hot excrement. I appreciate the guys that can pour the concrete, lay the pipe, build the road, etc. So don't let them run you off, there are others on here who see the rectums for what they are.

Any of the big names.... naiad, trac, quantum, etc... should be contacted and given details on the boat, and possibly plans to get their advice and proposal. You can then decide based on their input and price.

I think everyone will have a different opinion based on their favorite and what they are the most used to but honestly you can't go wrong with any of the big names in the game

    motoryachtlover,
Ten years as a YF member lurking with a total of ten posts and you feel that your life experience in the maritime field allows you to pontificate as to one or two highly qualified unlimited H.P engineers input & expertise in one area to respond to inquiries and not bloviate on all other topics allows you to sit / hide behind a keyboard and boldly type your feelings as to the right or wrong answers for the OP's questions is entirely entertaining. Excuse me but somehow I think that your lifetime of being in the construction business wouldn't amount to more than a pimple on one of these gentleman's back sides. That being said, The world needs ditch diggers too.

Yes the world needs dumb asses like me that dig dirt. I will not bother to tell you there is another business I have been involved with for my entire adult life that you would find a little harder to insult. As to ten posts disqualifying/diminishing ones opinion it's as if you believe a loud person is more relevant than a quiet one. As to a pimple on someone's backside I bet your two experts backsides are as big as there self inflated egos. The people who do are always criticized by the people who don't. Furthermore you missed the point, I am not commenting on their knowledge I am commenting on their attitude and how it negatively affects the purpose of the forum.

I sir am not one of the unlimited HP Chief engineers that contribute to this site and if you had any inkling as to what that entails as a life long endurance of constantly updating and learning to keep those type of credentials up to date and relevant than you might rethink your position of taking a swipe at them. I would be more likely to not respond to your posted nonsense if you had in fact had a previous track record of relevant contributions to this forum in lieu of ten questions about what's best between a 50 footer and a 60 footer. As far as your analogy of a prize fighter looking for a "mark" in a bar? Yes, Marmot might not tolerate fools as lightly as some but he certainly isn't on this site to "Kick some Ass" as you stated. He will on the other hand call a spade a spade and if his verbiage offends, than you need to first check your semantics & that would go for anyone posting answers to an engineering thread. Posters like yourself tend to dull the need for the professional maritime academy educated on this site to contribute to the forum and answer genuine questions from Op's instead of the tripe / opinions that you serve. Engage your Grey matter before your emotions spill onto the keyboard & be confident in your facts before using the forum or you will be schooled & informed of the basics . I'm not here to defend Marmot , K1w1 or any other knowledgeable engineer that posts factual information here as that's what engineers are schooled in , The science of facts and not emotion... Please tell us that you've been a boat builder or a naval architect for your entire 2nd life because when you joined this forum ten years ago you listed your profession as "Construction".

Boy cap you are really into this. Looking at my profile, posts, etc. I can assure you I am not interested enough in you and your life to spend time looking into it. No not a boat builder or naval architect, but I am tickled at your apparent suspicion that I have only 1 profession. There are industries that complement construction and served to lead me into construction in order to attempt to control costs. My post was about marmot. I have noticed repeatedly how his responses tend to start insult fights. And I will emote/contribute as long as the forum decision maker allows me to. I apologize that my comments have lead to this distraction. I was only trying to encourage the OP and others like him to not let the arrogant experts intimidate him from participating. My work life, in yes 2 industries, has taught me the importance of team work and how destructive an arrogant person can be to a team. So marmot doesn't tolerate fools gladly, notice how you said fools. That is my point is the OP a fool. I don't see the evidence of that yet. I don't suffer arrogant people gladly. I am done. Got to get my blue collar ass up early and dig some dirt.

Yes, there are some crappy brands of stabilizers that have been introduced over time. Those POS air powered aritsu POS's and their giant air compressors in the engine room for example. Now there are some good brands......Naiad, Trac, Wesmar, Seakeeper and others that are generally good brands. Now one size or brand isn't perfect on every yacht, however, they are still quality brands that can be recommended in general.

I think only a combination of Seakeepers and NAIADs will solve this stability issue.

So, you are not restoring an old USCG boat after all then?

Now if only the personal attacks would be removed. They are a clear violation of forum rules.
Or will this request be deleted instead?

I don't see anything in this thread where you have verbally attacked or abused someone..... yet.

It would appear that there are different rules for different members.

Maybe we are an elite club without realizing. Our names are probably in most of the PMs's and e mails Carl receives at times from distraught members with severe damage to their nighties and lost teddy bears.

Most readers here probably don't know that while Capt J and I have had some lively discussions on some posts we have agreed on some points posted here and even had civil communications via the PM system.
