Shaft seal lubrication

    Been slightly over a year since new shaft seals were installed on the shafts. Want to check the water flow to seals to be sure it is flowing well. Believe last seals went bad because of build up of salt in the elbows and decreased or stopped water flow. Obviously the engines need to be running but the boat doesn't have to be moving does it?

    No, just have the engines running.

    I really like the shaft seals Cabo used. They were from a company out of CA. I forget the name of the company but they had bronze bodies and were high quality with a very low failure rate. The seals do just wear out from age/use/and time. I wonder why no other builder ended up using them that I know of.

    Yes they are very heavy duty Blue Water by Chatfield Marine. Still have them if anyone has a need. I removed them and installed Tides because they have the ability to replace the seal while in the water.
